I keep reading how certain members are 'getting on a bit' as they approach 30 years age.

Well, as a 40 year old, I'd like to say that you guys/gals have at least 10 more years before your reactions go completely

At my age (40 is young...right?), I sometimes find it hard to keep up with some of you nippers as you whirl and bounce your way around a map (I think my player's body parts have decorated every wall in Q3 CTF!).

So, what sort of age spread do we have here? I'd be especially delighted to find that at least one person is older than me

Marriage, kids, mortgage (and all 3 at once means no money!) are but a few of the delights awaiting.

IME gamers are mostly between mid-late teens and early 30s. Having said that, i know at least one who is about 48, and the average in my clan is probably 40ish..

What i'm more interested is the average length of time people have been playing Quake. In my case, its about 3.5 years..

An anecdote. . .
I was at a meeting and one of the speakers asked who played online games. I put my hand up, and found it was me, and 3 11(ish) year old boys!

Most of the people in the audience had no idea what online gaming was, and thought I must be some sort of pervert. My wife nearly died of embarrassment, and my kids visibly edged away from me
smile.gif

As for the length of time playing Quake. Well.. I started around the time Quake2 was released, and played for about 9 months to 1 year (I forget exactly). A car accident left me unable to play for almost a year, but now I'm as good (ie crap)as I ever was.

So if you see me running into a wall...it's just my wrist getting a bit stiff

and I love it!!

I don't play games anymore, but I still like the PC etc.

Spend most of my time out, DJing and enjoying life. I decided after I met

someone that there is more to life than computers! Oh and it had something to do with the fact that I work with computers as well. I can only handle so much!

I know I have pissed many people off when I sold my gaming rig. Mainly due to the fact that my computer was always the 'server' with any LAN games! Now I'm using my old trusty Pentium 166 with 128 RAM with Windows NT to surf, email, chat to you lot and do coursework. I'm going to get into web design etc. later in the year when I've got time.

You lot no doubt will flame me etc. but to be honest I'm a far more chilled out and happier person since I stopped gaming.

I've never been into online gaming. Maybe it's just a fear of being totally annihilated within the first ten seconds (no, better make that the first five seconds
wink.gif
).

I don't know if age matters too much, though they do say your reactions start to slow down after you're about 18. And I am definitely past 18.

I'd say the best days of my life have been my 20's. And I look forward to every day!

Only major arse is that I still get ID at some pubs in town. I swear it's the door staff being wankers. Last time I said "do I get a free drink then for being insulted." They chucked me out! Wankers!

Must be my baby looks!

I'll be 30 later this year. The amount of experience playing q2 the past couple of years makes up in some part for lack of speed. Played QW for a few months b4 Q2 came out.

I'll stick around for Q3, but after that I prolly move on to something else. The "fed-up of the same old" factor slows you down as well.

I'll also be 30 later this year.
When it came to computer or wife, well, I now just live with my daughter! ;-)

The 20's are great, looking forward to 30's as I've been told that things just get better. Especially car insurance Tug. Try a Celica GT4 fully comp, business use, 30k miles a year for £515.

Been playing since Quake came out, haven't got any better tho! Do mainly Tribes now tho.
