Ok most of the importers *ahem* here (and Aada who I bet doesn't 'like it') will have already played this but for those who haven't:

This is the best game to be released on the PS2 for a long long time. It beats any of the next gen offerings I have played recently and is arguably better looking. Ok so it's not rendered with a next gen gfx engine but the art work is so unique it blows your mind.

Visuals aside the gameplay is astounding. It's essentially an action/adventure/rpg much like zelda but here you take control of a Wolf/God and his sidekick issun. Combat/abilites/levelling up is massively unique here though.

The main quest is estimated at 60 hours and is still too short :)

Check out the review at www.eurogamer.net as I really can't be arsed typing a comprehensive review.

Game are doing it in store for 28 quid and it's worth every penny. Put down that 360 controller and go buy it.

If I weren't a filthy student, I'd buy this and Final Fantasy XII. Boo.

That said, I have been enjoying Disgaea 2 quite a bit and has kept me busy whilst waiting for XII.

omg! wasn't God of war 2 a ps3 release?

Are you mental or just silly?

It was never a ps3 release. It is however going to be the best action game ever in the world :)

Better than the original in fact.

I had a look at some vids of it on youtube. It looks far too wierd!
I did buy God of War due to you guys saying its good and it is the only PS2 game I like. Maybe I'll pick this one up too.

Sorry I think my post sounded a little offensive :)

I never meant it that way.

Apparently GoW2 will play at 720p on a PS3 so, um, yey(?)

Okami looks very good though, will likely pick this up at some point .

Not long. Fresher at the Institute. I'm going to hopefully transfer to the "proper Uni" at some point, though. :)

Which one are you at?

Okami is genuinly stunning. Im pissed off by the fact that I am still playing through Zelda and its a bit too similar to play so I'm having to lay off Okami as im 40 or so hours into TP.

I know the one I want to play tho..... :(

The PS2 is seriously showing what it can do these days I gotta say.

FF12, God of War 2, Guitar Hero 2, Okami... PS2 owners have never had it so good.

@Yaka: agree on Shadow of the Colossus. Probably the most inspired game I've ever played.

Final Fantasy 12 on PS2, yes. And it's got rave reviews!

UK release is on 23rd of Feb. There's a launch event in HMV on Oxford Street :)

on topic though, i took a look at Okami... am i right in saying that its a RPG, but you play as a dog, with graphics that look like vuitifel(SP?) joe? doesn't look very good tbh

I just spent some of my precious little money on ordering this now for when I get home in the summer, since our TV is broken. I will hold leggy personally responsible (in 3 or 4 months' time) if it is rubbish.

It probably won't be, but I'm just saying.

Give it at least 3-4 hours of play before making a decision.

If you're not happy I'll personally 'reimburse' you.

I quite like Okami at first. Despite the stupidly long intro (I timed it at roughly 20 mins for the whole thing) it's quite a good game. But I starts to get very samey for me. Run around, solve a simple puzzle, get a new power/drawing technique. Rinse. Repeat.
The fights aren't challenging at all which would spice things up a bit.

FF12 is a pretty good game tbh and I like the fight system they're using. It works quite well and you keep playing just so you can create new fighting sequences for your characters.

God Of War does look superb and is a fantastic game to boot. Completed that in almost one 24hr sitting cos my memory card was full and I was waiting for another to arrive. Didn't want to run the risk of the PS2 doing something silly while I was out of the room. heh. Can't wait for GoW2!

My most re-playable game on the PS2 is Resident Evil 4. I must have played it through at least 10 times on normal and professional level. I've just got it for the PC too and despite the fuck up on the graphics (I'm hoping it will be patched soon) I've already completed normal mode, got the infinite rocket launcher and am about to start on the recently unlock pro mode. Or maybe the Ada sub-story. hmmm. :)

I still loves my PS2 lotses.

Get it for Gamecube, complete the set.

Okami is indeed a winner. It's the best game since Resident Evil 4 imo.
