ok q3 reported fps v monitor hz

hi ok
so after years of a slow machine i now have a fastish pc with a cm, still can't hit a thing i just spam.
now the machine can run, reported in q3 100 fps solid but the monitor says 60 hz so what am i seeing: 60 or 100 fps.
Also when i was drunk i did play about with stuff and got the monitor running at 100hz with q3 at 800x600 and got very strange results.
so what am i seeing: 60 or 100 fps

hmmm

AFAICR, if your monitor refreshes at 60hz, then 60fps is all you will see, no matter how many gazillion fps your p4-6000 Voodoo Geforce 3 Ultra Max Quad Sli rig can pump out. The second part of your question, hmm Im not sure what symtoms you got other than "very strange results" but I suspect you got some texture tearing and so on. IIRC, this is solved by enabling v-sync in the Q3 display options menu.

cheers m8 i will see if i can get the monitor to 100hz but as i was drunk i can't remember what i did.
the strange stuff i got with 100hz and 100fps was a strobe effect when i turned around, a bit like the very old DR WHO tv show intro but without the ace music

got it running at 100 hz now do not ask. but finding drivers for the monitor was hard work.
monitor is a j71c by jean co ltd, had to use the fcc code and all sorts of stuff. even @ 100 hz still can't hit the side of a stopped bus.
