Well you will need isk to buy ships, however to fly better ships you generally have to train the relevent skills which can take some time depending on what you are training on.

Skills require time only to train, as such some players complain that those older players are of a skill level unattainable to new players.

This is not entirely true, in 2-3 months you can train enough combat skills (for example) to be very competitive in pvp combat.

The problem for some with EvE is that there is no instant pvp action, you really have to build your skills, join a corp, save some cash and buy a better ship (train the skills to use the ship), then train the skills to equip it, buy the kit to equip etc.

Going to "low-sec" space with a low lvl ship can be fun, but don't expect to kill anything. More likely you will be at the whim of player priates and corp fleets, not to mention npc pirates, that will eat you alive.

The game only really gets kicking when you join a good corp and start 0.0 stuff, thats where the real meat of the game is, and its tremendous fun!

One question though: how come you can only train skills in only 1 char in the account?

It's to stop players levelling multiple characters and to stop a huge influx of "alts" which can be used to grief, cheat, steal and generally do nasty things, then get away scott-free.

The "police" in EvE are not the devs, nor the CSR's, they are the players. If you anger the community, expect a backlash. I find that this is unique to EvE in that no other online game i have tried have such a sense of community spirit.

If you, as a a new player, gets ganked by a player pirate well over their level, all it will take is to mention this in system chat. Guarantee someone will see it and go and even the score for you :)

tried the game a few times. the very first corp i joined got a war on their hand from one of the biggest most badass pirate corps in the game at that time (think it was M00's alliance) and i couldent even undock from my station coz there were always 20+ enemies around there hehe :) so i just logged on and clicked cancel in my sub :p the second time i tried it out it went a tad better, got in a nice and friendly corp. then exodus got released and all of the sudden i were the only active player left... i might give it another try later on but i'm not holding any hope at this point :)

I dont undestand why exodus was hated by people, i think it was a good patch.

The only thing i dont like about eve is the they are making my role in game harder every time they patch :(

i never had a problem with exodus either. i kinda liked that patch alot. especially the new ships :) got me one of those Amarr battle cruisers or whatever they are just before i quit.

only problem i had was that i never dared to fly it anything hehe. i'd go bust if i'd loose that thing :p

owell.. might give it another go next week just to see whats up.

right now I invested in some transport ships and well all I can say it did
abit of a hole in my alt char economics they costed me 170m isk each.

well all I can say I drive them with no insurance hehe I cant insure them for 170m isk the system wont allow me too.

i dont think thats a viable argument anymore. the game is so old that most ppl thats been playing 2+ years already have 3 (or more) alts with many and good skills.

it might have been a good idea a few years ago but now it wont matter anymore imo.

well they didnt bother me to much. and my BC was good enough to take me through a couple of blokades in chokepoint systems so i was quite happy with it.

ooh btw.. did m00 ever reunited? there was some thrash talk about that about the time i i left last. they were the only pirates that were worth concidering as dangerous when they were around at its peak. the rest were just wannabies :p

EVE has good and bad things. There's lots of things to do - you can go for manufacturing (crafting!), mining, running NPC missions or go for the PVP part in 0.0 (security rating - 0.0 is pure anarchy).

There's cool pirates, total wankers, there's people who don't care for PVP etc. There's great movies of massive battles between corporations trying to wipe each other out (those are awesome) and movies of pirates hunting mines (who can't fight back all that well) - they're like the grey gankers in DAOC. Not fun at all.

Currently I'm running courier missions. Nice cash, sometimes a few items and I chat on some of the ingame channels. EVE mostly consists of waiting for something, though. But it's pretty. :)

yep, was the sole reason why i left. i was ALWAYS waiting for something. sure u could always do something while waiting. but waiting over a bloody month for some of the more exotic skills to train isnt my idea of fun.

if by challenge u mean, mining for 2 months to get a cruiser or battleship just to have it get destroyed by gate campers. then yeah, its a challenge, a challenge in not going insane :)

and dont get me started on trying to get invited to a serious corp. they are so afraid of spys in that game u almost need to sleep with the CEO of CCP before they even think about it. and they probably wont invite u then anyway.

yeah, u put something into the char alright.. a SHITLOAD of time spent waiting :)

/edit: and lets not forget that u can only train ONE char at the time on the same account. u can not have more then 1 char training skills at the same time. so playing any alts while waiting for the main char to skill up is impossible if u wanna progress the alt.

unless u have multiple accounts. but as the fee is so bloody high it doesent warrant it.

I dont get this

*get too 75 in EVE; lvl isnt existing in EvE last time I logged in ( must been 1,5hr).

*mm M00 got some members who didnt exactly follow simple rules ;)

*you can only train ONE char at the time on the same account. cant have more then 1 char training skills at the same time. so playing any alts while waiting for the main char to skill up is impossible if u wanna progress the alt.
unless u have multiple accounts. but as the fee is so bloody high it doesent warrant it.

- first off what this with alt's I dont get those people :touch: The Purpose is too play the main char "get" isk too him/her.

- The monthly fee is cheap only around 14 euros included in the price are (add ons) + ingame "fast" support. :worthy:

*This game any good or wot? Is it a real challenge?

- Hell yes its the mmorpg who dont end after a week of exping + you set the rules you can do what ever in EvE. "no cheating btw"

Goes back too defend her space now have fun out there

ps Gatecampers I shoot them down ;)

Newbie areas are like this sure, but they are only a very, very small area of the game.

Low sec space is just as challenging as it ever was, and although a lot of the big corp wars seem to have fizzled out, there are some HUGE corps on the rise. Lots of pirates around right now, but they wont last once the upcoming corps stamp their names on 0.0 sec space thats infested currently. Plus there are a lot of corps who have "in-fighting" and power struggles right now, its very tense and enjoyable stuff.

EvE is the only game I have ever got the "wow" factor from. The graphics are incredible, the community is the best in any online game by a huge shout and the game is so deep that even after 18 months im just scratching the surface.

No one can bag this game unless they have really played it, it is probably not for the DAoC/WoW Uber1337-powergaming fraternity as it takes a lot of patience and time to really get to the heart of the action.

Anyone commenting on this game who hasnt played in excess of 4 months has no idea what they are talking about im afraid, it takes roughly that long to get out of the high-sec areas with any significant amount of skills and equipment :) Like I say, 18 months, still not got to the real heart of the game, probably never will, but EvE is all about the journey and the experience, not the end-game.

Hiya,

I've just started playing DAOC after a 4 month stint on Eve so I thought I'd let you have my two cents worth.
It was the 1st MMORPG that I've ever played so I wasn't really sure what to expect.... well the graphics are awesome and the community is generally very friendly. A lot of the older (carebear) players seem to get a great deal of satisfaction in helping the newbies. I got the feeling that a lot of the eve-players are older than you would normally get in MMORPG's which is nice.
Someone in the post mentioned that there wasn't an experience grind and they're perfectly correct. However, I found that there was a cash grind. You need to do shed loads of missions to get decent npc standings to get cash from missions or you haul cargo or you mine or you hunt npc rats. 4 months into the game and I was the proud owner of a Battlecruiser and I had most of the skills to fly it. Saying that though, if you join a corp, they will usually give you a ship and skill books
The problem that I had with the game is that ultimately it's geared for pvp. The arguement on the Eve forums was basically that if you wanted to solo go buy Elite.
So why did I stop playing????
Well... I felt that I was always at a disadvantage when I went into 0.0 (pvp space) - didn't feel like I had the ship or skills, gankers at the gates and everyone shoots you on site... and I suppose the confidence (4 months building up to a ship which gets blown up in 2 mins does shake the confidence somewhat).
Could have joined a corporation but half of 'em had so many bloody rules it was like being at work... and actually trying to join one as well..

So now I'm trying to work out how to Daoc... Oh fun!!

W
