for asking such a noob question.

Got a new PC, i wouldn't even call it new, its a heap of shit.

Ive got an internet connection (lol) but i want to split it so we can have it downstairs aswell. IS there anyway of doing this? Router or something? All info is welcome!

Aye routers are pretty nice for that kind of thing, for games you'd want a wired one as wireless aren't reliable enough. You will also need a NIC(Network Interface Card) for each computer you would have on the router. There quite straight forward nowadays to setup.

One of these is all you need. Wireless modem router this one even has a wireless dongle for £5 more than with out. I have this and its the easiest to set up and most stable i have ever used
