Oh pleae help, shit has happened to me....

OK here is the problem, what I think I have done is knaker my computer. How I think I managed to do this was by doing a system restore and when I leave the room to go other computer to help by mate. I come back and see that screen has gone blank, and when I move the mouse or press a key the screen reapears, bit to my surprise this does not happen, I soon realoze that the computer has gone bust!!!! During this restore it promted me not to rearrange nothing nor deleate. So I turn computer back on and it says restore was complete but I know tht it never did because it dosn't take 10mins to do. Then on my desktop I see what I expect to see, files icons etc.. I try to play Half-Life then it says reintall HL or check for viruses. I reinstall but yet again same thing.
So what I really want to know is wtf shall I do. Take it to repair place get them to sort it, or wipe all the computer and reinstall everything from scartch, which I have done before after the first fatel thing that knakered the computer before.

What I believe you've done is restored from the very first system restore checkpoint (ie. when you first brought your PC), if this is the case any program or dll installed since then will sease to function, one way round it MIGHT be to install HL (and everything else) to different Directorys so windoze thinks their different programs.

But then, dont ask me, im uneducated.

Good point, I think Dan could be right. When you say 'restore' what exatly did you do? format then reload the OS from a 'quick restore' CD or was it something like that GoBack program that some companies suppied with pre winME systems or did you just reinstall windows over it self again (most likey)? Or You using that really crap winME restore feature?

Backup what you can, Format, reinstall.

system restore:
supposedly newbie safe proggy in windows ME.
i've used it several choices, if u run it again, you'll see an option to undo a restore u performed. try this, then restore it back to a better point

knowing windows, it won't be able to un-bollix a balls-up. still, give it a shot as I don't see many other options left for you [other than a reinstall]
