Help Oh Fucking Hell

Yes, I'm tired and have had a bad couple of days but at least I'm safe in the knowledge that I do, and have for a long time, really hate Simon Fucking Amstell.

Or do I?

I've been setting up my mum's new TV and PVR and the end of that was on BBC HD - so I used the iplayer connection to see if that was working and watched the whole thing.

It's not that I found it amazingly funny. In fact - there was absolutely nothing surprising or ground-breaking in it for me.

I found it comforting. And not because I can look at him and say "I've got my shit so much more together than you" - it's because I could quite happily identify with almost everything that came out of his mouth and could pretty much say "been there" to it all.

Is it weird when a meat-loving, mildly porky, tall, slightly receeding, ex-christian straight bloke in a long term relationship can identify very easliy with a single, gay, skinny, curly-haired jewish vegan?




PS. He talks about going on vacation on his own. He's not lying - he does. I saw him by himself looking very scruffy in an airport in Thailand a few years back.

All i can say is that all the things you mention, gay, porky, vegan, meatlover etc aren't fundamental charasteristics of hunams(unless they make a big deal out of it, in which case who can stand them? ) so it's not surprising that people of all areas can identify.

To be fair, Buzzcocks has been "of varying quality", at best, ever since Mark Lamarr left. But it's been better with the guest presenters than with Amstell.

The important question is why did Mark Lamarr leave?
