Seems several of the peeps who play on the uni LAN have decided using OGC is a lot of fun...

Sigh.

Thing is, no-one else seems to have too much of a problem with it.

Ah well.

There are always twats out there, but didn't think so many would decide to play CS at MY uni :(

All the more reason to wish for Buffy to get adsl at his house.

Until then... think I'll stop playing CS. Even stoned and drunk I'm starting to get tetchy about it all - and I normally NEVER get angry at CS :(

Erm as its a LAN u have one advantage to playing over the net ............. Physical Contact IE. PUnch the fuckers out

Are they their own machines, or the university's? If the latter, why don't you complain? If the former, infect them with a virus.

I'm assuming that someone is running a server 24-7 like they have done in previous years. If it was the compsoc one, i'm sure having a whinge at whoever runs it now (Used to be Tim Bishop i think). More than likely its someone else running it on the network. I think last year the good bloke who ran the server 24-7 made it so you had to apply for the ability to connect (an accept list of ips i guess). He also set up little mini- tourneys etc... bet you he is off campus now tho :/

Other than that, there is nowt to do. There is no uni policy on LAN games, and you can just hope the person with the server isn't one of these OGC'ing pricks.

Or of course, run your own :)

Is a uni wide LAN - so don't know other players - just see them in game, etc.

Is a bit like net but everyone has a ping of 0-10.

I'm just going to get drunk instead :D

get the admin / whoever to run -secure as a parameter when the server is invoked, this will enable VAC :)
as of the last few weeks no OGC has got past VAC, although a few alternative cheats have sprung up recently.

Secure must have been disabled on purpose, it is activated by default.

The only time you would ever run a server insecure is...a LAN server wih no net access. So he may be able to run it in secure mode.;)

Running a secure server would need updates from Valve. As the machine is located within the university network, any traffic to it that is not for educational needs could get the Uni in a lot of trouble with JANET.

Trust me on this. They can be nasty bastards sometimes. For God's sake, it was only 2 CS servers and a UT server ;)

erm, that clip is from Cky2k and those guys rock as do the rest of those freaks, they make jackass look like the trumped up piece of shit that it is.

D/L a cheat called OC to see if my suspicions on a few peeps here at uni are 'founded'...

Sigh.

It's a scary thing when you look through a wall and see someone looking right back at you! :eek6: !!!

Well, time to do a fresh install and a campaign to get the servers here with some sort of cheat buster, etc. program.

Saw someone with an aimbot yesterday in TFC. His shot with a sniper rifle was 100%. After taking a demo and shouting at how lame he was he decided to add the [myg0t] tag to his name. Unlucky for him that HLGaurd bans when it sees a [myg0t] tag :)

Most of them are to stupid to hide the cheating and thus make it easy to spot so I am not really worried. I've seen many people cheating in uni's, not much you can do about it sadly. Some people enjoy it, I'm sure even most of you would enjoy owning the pants of whingy idiots once in a while, even if it was with a cheat.

I'm glad most of us have some honour though :)
