I dont have children but placing myself in the shoes of a father who has a young girl, i cant imagine i would be too pleased about a guy chasing my daughter that is old enough to be her grandfather.

A bit hard to imagine it but i am guessing i could possibly react in a way that would get me locked up - maybe not castratation - for a serious amount of time.

I suppose after having a chat with the guy and he continued to see my daughter, then we proceeded to the next level - visit from some guys with bats and balaclavas - and he still continued i would probably start thinking along the same lines this guy did.

I stopped reading at "17 year old daughter" if she was 13 it'd be a whole different kettle of whatnots but 17 is an adult tbh, I moved out at that age, people cannot drag childhood out till their kids are in their 20s like the bloody americans do it's pathetic and quite creepy. Yes 17 is still immature but by that age they are self aware and responsible for their own actions.

I think any father would be rather mortified and probably furious that his 'baby' has decided to go off spoiking a pensioner but tbh get over it, unless she has the mental capacity of a 5 year old she is a woman and old enough to make mistakes on her own.

If either of my daughters went out with a 57 yr old man when they were 17, I'd question three things:
1) Their taste in men.
2) My failure as a parent.
3) The bloke's dubious tastes for excessively young (compared to himself) girls.

My personal reaction would be one of confrontation, shouting and swearing, and if the situation required it, a damn good beating with a final stamp on the balls.

lol when I was about 16 or 17 can't recall which, there was a girl who was in my year at school who went off with this 50+ year old bloke, orrible little feller he was, about 5 foot 3, bald as a coot, face like an old walnut; christ knows what she saw in him (mind you she was hardly catch of the year) but it lasted a good few months and she was a normal girl, had quite a few boyfriends previously, wasn't special needs or anything...just bad judgement.
