You could set up your own OF event though.

Get all three realms to participate:

Step 1: Sit on the portal pad in your portal keep for 10 minutes.

Step 2: Take a boat to emain macha.

Hibs take Crauchon island, albs take the west bridge, mids the east.

No use of water allowed once you're there - all traffic must cross the bridges. No moving into the keeps, no siege weaponry allowed.

Not sure how you could recreate the old-style RAs though.

If an old server is still running OF, i dont really see why they couldnt just make a port stone for it.. If not else, then just the Emain zone Could be like a lvl50 BG! I think it would be awsome, even tho it would prolly make NF kinda empty

I'm liking NF but I still miss OF, still miss solo'ing in hadrians wall, the great 1 on 1's, the mile gate fights, some good times.

However keep fights as an archer in OF where dreadfull, LoS was pap and more often than not an assassin class would climb up and gank me.

I enjoy NF, but I still miss OF at times, an OF event would really rock

what does NF give.
1v1 <-- allot!
8vs8 <-- allot!
stealth zergs (only at keep fights / bridges)
non stealth zergs (only at tower/keep fights)
2vs× <-- possible now!! wasn't with of if u weren't a stealther.

NF has way more options then of, but most the people just move like sheeps to the swords on the map...getting 5k a night... :x

well yesterday (on prydwen though), i walked with peppa and made 7k in 1 run... we got like 6 2vs2 fights.. some 2vs3 fights.. and some 2vs1 fights:x

all in the "non-action-fotm" areas....

look further then where your boat ends and u'll end up with very good fights..

Dunno what it is with you guys and ur OF, but OF was worse.... way worse then NF, OF was zerg zerg zerg on primetime... u got like three fg vs fg fights a night... and that was it.. if u were lucky..

Nf offer allot more...

Angelheal u must be on the wrong forum because excal dosent offer close to same amount of FG fights like OF did .. .. but i guess the main reason now is still ppl dosent know where to roam ..

Anyway NF might be worse from your pov .. and u really make my cry with your whine about OF was dreadfull for the poor archers, yeah it must have been hard to find a spot at amg cause of all the other poor archers

Anyway this biatching wont bring anything back. This game is for the majority fuckers that wanna stand 9 fgs on a bridge with support for the ground troops, and the ones that wanna sit in some ram and bashing on a door for 45 mins cause the keeps is lvl 10 .. yes NF really got alot to offer zzz ..

Yeah its the most fancy chatprogram out there. Super colorfull and everything!

can recreate old HW (at least 90% of it...) by standing on one of the current milegates

it's more "there was a fight here 5 minutes ago"... unless you get a really long fight one side will be dead before it shows up, never mind before another group gets there.

Means you can't keep running around the same place though.

seriously, albs enjoy it more couse they have a bigger percentage of those random grps / casters / scout alts that got owned by mids/hibs in OF as soon as they left apk. They could finally pay back some in NF as it promotes Zerging, more user friendly, being good rr - well equiped is not such in an issue in sieges etc... and revenge is sweeet, always.

Here's a novel idea...

NF lay out WOULD provide a lot more varied rvr if

a) Half the so-called FGers hadn't left by the end of the first week because of the initial rush of siege fights instead of staying to make FG roaming work. Too many of them threw their toys out because the game had changed, even if potentially it was for the better.

b) Some of the FGs still out there (though not all) actually roamed areas instead of hanging about towers/edge of zergs and then complaining about the lack of a FG scene

NF layout ain't the problem, it's how it's used (or not as the case is) - and that ain't just down to albs or those who enjoy large scale/siege fights. It's also nothing to do with /rw. FG fights are already resolved by the time they show up on the map, let alone before anyone could get there to "add".

Tbh the rose-tinted-spectacle-wearing brigade are funny with their fotm OF nostalgia. HW was probably the best frontier in OF for rvr yet virtually no one, especially the self-confessed FGers, used it. Why? Because there were no easy rps to be made. Just as now many of those who claim to only want to play for FG action would rather farm the zerg at a tower than actually really roam and keep roaming until other FGs started showing up (as they would eventually). The complaints about NF from some just don't square with how they really play
