Just in the past day or two, if I click on the 'new posts' button to the left of a thread, it takes ages for the page to load. If I click on the thread link, it comes up quickly as normal.

The only thing thats happened is a big windows security update in the past 2 days (although I have the firewall disabled).

Is this just me?

Also, if I click 'entertainment' from the general page, it takes years. If I go to the main FH forum index, and click entertainment from there, it loads up instantly.

Bizarre.

Ok I'm getting sick of this. Why do I need to click every link twice to get it to load? Why does it sometimes take 3 minutes to load the quick reply box? Why is it taking me 2 minutes to post a message?

I understand this might be my machine, but its just this website and no other than exhibits this behaviour. Every other site is nice and quick.

What can I change on my computer to try and stop it?

Something is going wrong...I think one of the servers is playing up, since a lot of images just time out some of the time.

Page generated in 1.153 seconds (49.89% PHP - 50.11% MySQL) with 26 queries using server 193.138.95.141

A bit high on the MySQl, surely?

thats what I get for this page, just checked and its similar for feedback and general (8-13% for mysql). But I am using a different server.

Right

Have changed the load balancer system and upgraded the image server. Let me know how it goes if you go thru https://forums.freddyshouse.com/ please.

Also, it should fix the cookie's being eaten by little green martians as well.

Feedback appreciated.....

'tis still very very slow for me (and attached images in the southpark thread don't work).

I hear lots of technical stuff about IPs and such, is there a file I can modify that might speed stuff up?

What ip is listed at the bottom of these pages? I cannot find any slowdowns now across the frontend systems. In fact it is flying for me.

Can you do this for me:

open a command prompt, type tracert -d 193.138.95.142 and paste the results in here. Don't worry if 1 hop keeps timing out, it is meant to :)

Page generated in 0.636 seconds (86.98% PHP - 13.02% MySQL) with 30 queries using server 193.138.95.141

I tried that tracert thing it says its not a recognised command, program or batchfile.

Hmm, its a win32 app. If you are running on *NIX try traceroute.

Judging by the results your slow performance is the transmission rate between the servers and your machine. ie. could be a proxy server, your isp, our peering etc. Its not the servers that I now know.

We need this trace.....

Another user has reported that it is slow. They too are on NTL and the tracert is fine but the site access is shite, which indicates NTL's proxy servers are fubared.

Ring em up in your masses and complain to them.

Hello Mr Deebs,

I'm getting 502 Bad Gateway errors every so often now, both from workies and home. Something about the server returning an incomplete response I believe. Only had three though, so it's not urgent or anything :)

I'm totally unable to post from work (can't do a tracert, the systems are actually locked down nowadays), but everything is flying from home...weird.
