Odd happenings in Battlegrounds last night

This isn't a whine just an observation I made last night. I was sitting stealthed on the battlements of Thidranki keep and I spotted a cleric port out and start running around the area onfront of the front door. What confused me a little was that he seemed to be moving faster than he should have been and his animation wasn't smooth. He's "zone" every second or two as if he was here....... now here....... now here....... now here....... now here.

Sorry it's awful hard to explain. I did initially put it down to lag but it only ever happened when he was out front of the keep and not running about inside or on battlements. Was it lag or just one of those odd things that happens now and then. I wasn't too fussed as he was an alb but if I'd been a mid/hib and see him move like that I would have assumed some sort of speedhack. It was almost as if he was going into and out of stealth but moving a large distance for that 0.5sec that he was stealthed :eek6:

P.S. it would have been awful hard to manually select him.

This happens with me when I use my laptop. Its really annoying and more of a hinderance than a benefit to me when I RvR since especially when in Mid I'm often the sticky guy.

Symptoms sound exactly like what happens to me.

Since I got back on my main PC again I'm blissfully not having to worry about it, though the problem has as yet to be resolved by Dell as in my case its a hardware problem.

Eek why assume a speed hack because it is a mid or a hib ?

Why not assume a speedhack because it is an alb ? Or if it was an alb is cheating ok ?

Don't albs cheat or do all mids and hibs cheat ?

Tbh you could be right - I hear there is some sort of clever speed trick out there which makes targetting hard - just not sure why the realmism :eek2:

If the person was from a different realm one tends to think the worst...
Ie. If a player sees another player (from the same realm) doing something suspicious they are more likely to 'turn a blind eye' - while a player seeing a player from an 'enemy' realm doing something suspicious screams blue murder... I guess

Roken is right, ppl will always asume the worst of enemies and be 'not too borthered' about realm m8's.

It could also have been a speed buff from i.e housing zone, see alot of people being accused for "speed hacking/cheating" but infact it's just those people who have timed or ported with luck just as they zoned out of their housing zone and the porters where already on the pad while they still had their speed buff.

Had some guy lag-running or whatever you want to call it one time too.. was on my skald at the moment, and even tho I insta-snared that guy, he was lagging in mach5 or more from midside MB across the water to CK in thidranki (he was running as fast on the ground as in the water)... And that's no hastenerbuff or housingzone-speedbuff for sure :) By the way, the hastener/intoner speedbuffs breaks in combat, so accusing someone who's using those speedbuffs for cheating seems odd to me. :)

so you're saying that's some odd bug that occurs on some computers? it's well annoying when someone lags away faster than you can ever run.....

That would have been smooth animation then and consistant movement. The zipping forward, slowing problem comes from a hardware timing problem ;)

I had a problem with stop-go lag. I'd my screen would freeze and unfreeze rapidly and it was almost impossible to do anything, I hated it, it went away after a while.
