Anyone else insane enough to buy one of the dev kits for this? Mine should arrive at some point in the next week or two. Can't wait to try TF2, the demos and fuck about coding some random stuff up for myself. Thinking of hooking it up to a stereo pair of cameras on my quadcopter and get some 3d shizz out of that :D

Have you a link to the specs for the 3D stuff? Or for that matter the specs for the rift itself?

At the moment it's vapourware to me...

Will wait until it looks more like their concept pictures (ski gogles) crather than a black brick strapped to you head.

It's 100% real, it's just in very low production rates right now. Mine still hasnt arrived but it's due within a week or two by the look of things.

They say it's pretty got for specs wearers, you can wear your specs under it, I hear. They also have lens inserts which should handle most of the common short/long sightedness. Someone with particularly dodgy eyesight won't get much joy, though :(

I repeat - how is it?!
Sorry :D

It's excellent. Had it in the office for a couple of days. Been enjoying showing people the roller coaster simulation and the guillotine beheading sim. Deffo the most popular kid in school with that on my desk!

Yeah played TF2 for a bit. The problem is the res is so low you cant read anything and the hud is all shitty. The gameplay is OK, though. The main difference is that your gun aim is not always the centre of the screen (like in real life) so you can move your head and not your aim point. No other games are like that, though, so it takes some getting used to. It's probably better overall, but it's hard to get into.
