Should I try and do that or should I wait until I get a MP set?
How high OC do you dare to try on such a set?

Usually, OCing a 99% set with 4-5 points ( 32-33 / 28 ) is cheaper than not OCing a MP set.

If you're not going to use more than 32/33 imbuepoints, getting a MP set is a waste of cash imo.

Take leather for instance ( and excalibur pricings, since those are the ones I know of ) - prices does not consider getting 99% qua leftovers from MP sets, which could be even cheaper.

Full set af102 99% qua leather - 1 - 1.4p
Full set 5pt OC SCing - material cost + 2 - 2.5p ~ 2.5 - 3.5p

Which in total would cost you 3.5 - 5p - SC'd and done ( only alchemy remains ).

Full set af102 100% qua leather - 6 - 7p

Oops, we're already over the old price, and no SC'ing has been done.

Conclusion - if you don't need more than 32 - 33 imbuepts, stick with 99% qua. ( if pricing is about the same on Prydwen that is :D )

As long as a LGM SpellCrafter does the imbue/combine for u, 5pt. OC on 99% and MP items aint a risk at all.

U dont even need to use all 99%qua gems on these items. Done it loads of times with absolutely no BOOM's or fails.

I'd go for a full set of MP leather... It might cost loads, but it's well worth it imo.
Especially as Assassin you'll want those 37.5 imbue points you can squeeze into those funky MPs :)

You'll want to max Qui/Str/Dex/Con, +HP, all resists, want +11 stealth/CS/Envenom/Weapon/DW etc ;)
(Well, maybe not envenom, but switching items to env. somethow sucks) ;)
Very hard to do that with 99% stuff... and even with MPs you'll need some uber jewelry to get at least close to maxing everything o_o

Well, if you don't have the money atm to get those MPs and don't have your perfect jewelry combination set up yet, I'd consider using 99% stuff for now and switch to a MP set later.

I made a non OCed 99% set of leather for my lvl 44 inf, which caps the most important PVE stats/skills/resists so I can solo PVE with him... cost only about 1P. Tailored and SCed it myself tho, so there's no extra cost for a crafter in there. Will stick to it till I can get a MP suite, which will take quite some time I guess ;)

Asori/Konin, friend of mine, got a 99% full set of leather o/c by 5 points the other day (on each piece). Not one failure.

Leather users tend to be the classes that have the most stats and skills to bump, so MP armour gives you the extra imbue points. HOwever, if you can max your stats, skills, resists and HP's with 99% qual stuff go for it. :)

As for failure rates, overcharging by 5 points has an extremely, tiny, miniscule chance of failing when using 99% qual gems. It's fairly standard now to assume no risk at all when using 99% gems and overcharging. Not sure of the exact formulas, but a chance of failure or critical failures only tart happening with overcharges when you introduce single gems of varying quality i.e. 99% + 99% + 99% + 98%
