Bought a phone on o2 from phones4U a week before my Voda contract expired.

1) P4U tried to sell insurance by claiming it was offsetable against my taxbill (which it isn't, its only tax deductable)

2) P4U said they'd arrange the port (which they didn't)

3) I phone o2 10 days later and arrange the port myself

4) Complain to P4U head office, they say I'll be compensated with £20-£30 (which I haven't)

5) Phone o2 a week after 3), they fucked up and the port still hasn't happened

6) Request complaint department from o2, get given an email, the email address doesn't work - told by another department that it has to be in writing. So I complain.

7) Get a bill from o2 for a service I haven't been able to use

8) Get a threatening letter from o2 because the direct debit has failed (their mistake, again)

9) Phone them up, laconic drawl of operator suggests that the bill must be paid by CC. I don't want to - tough he says.

10) Phone still not on correct number.

Honestly, I've never experienced such incompentance. Stay away folks. I've had the new phone for 6 weeks now, and I still can't use it on the correct number.

Never ever ever use Phones 4 U.

Never ever ever use O2.

In fact, you're probably better off not getting a mobile phone at all, apart from the minor fact that they're obscenely useful.

Out of interest, is there a particular reason you left Vodafone? I was contemplating switching to them from O2…

Left Voda because they wouldn't give me the phone I wanted, for free.

My first every mobile was bought from Phones 4 You, when they used to advertise in papers and it was mail order ;)

They make funny adverts though :)

I used p4u and o2 straight after that. I was with orange b4 and i have now moved back to Orange.

Ive not been with voda but I think I will stick with Orange as they seem to have the best service etc out of the networks i have tried...

GDW...you're a grumpy old bastd so nobody should listen to you ever...you're a bit like Throdgrain tbh.

I was with Orange but moved to O2 so I could get the phone I wanted. Sod getting it through a third party though, just buy one of the online deals direct from O2. My number move was perfectly smooth, I pay by debit and I got the phone I wanted despite being on a cheap tariff (£19/month, 50 mins/500 texts, you can have it with more talk less text though). Even better they let me use 4 of my text message allowance at a time to send pictures so I don't need any 'add-ons' or 'bolt-ons' or any other value added shite.

Orange the dopey bastards, I rang up to see what deal they could do me at contract renewal time, nothing. I mention that I've seen a good deal elsewhere and instead of trying any retainer spiel on me they just put me through to cancellations straight away.

Dont buy from Phones4u! Ive said it in about a million threads never ever ever use them, theyre evil!

Get Phones4u to sort this out, you was charged in effect correctly for the bill you recieved from o2, because you took out the connection, the only problem is youre not using the number that you wanted allocated because of the original fuckup by Phones4u (***shock***).

Get the bill, take it down to your local Phones4u store, speak to store manager etc get him to contact the customer services (Phones4u own?) i know in SOME cases they can do a port within 24hrs... But i never said that, generally its a 7-10 day process, if you have been fucked around for so many weeks then it should be treated as highest priority.

The problem part with o2 is, we dont have an inbound complaints department (I think...) and customers get so pissed off at it, however at least when youre writing in you can note down every little thing and not miss anything can be a pain in the arse tho...

The direct debit wouldnt have been o2's fault - It lies (***shock***) solely down in the hands of Phones4u, they would have taken your bank details and (incorrectly?) entered the bank details, thus you probably got barred for this, shitty but true...

What you need to do, as i said before, is take your o2 bill (Because youre at the moment being charges connection for the temporary number) as well as quite possibly your Vodafone bill (Because while this shits going on, youre still gonna be on Vodafone until port completes) and say you want refunding for either the o2 one, or the Vodafone one, or hell.. both for the inconvienence caused. And dont forget to mention that "apparent" credit which should have been applied, it should be somewhere most likely possibly going onto your next bill but just wait for their confirmation about it
