According to this months PCZone NVIDIA are to manufacture a high performance motherboard geared towards 3D Graphhics (Read games) with an intergrated GF2 MX (8x AGP!) and a kick ass sound card. What do people think about this?

It's got some good tricks with the memory bus, from what I've read, but not worth the price, and onboard sound and graphics sucks.

GF2 MX? - everyone wants better than that.
On board sound? - not worth the extra money.

Ive just checked my PCZone about the onboard sound...

"The Audio Processing Unit (APU) is more capable than an SBLive!, supporting DX8.0, EAX, A3D and Dolby 5.1 in hardware, nt requiring any CPU Power"

But you have to pay extra for it. I suppose it's the most useful part of the board. The built in MX really annoys me though. It's just not good enough for the sort of people the board is marketed at.

ummm... It has a AGP slot too (8X agp I might add)

Yeah, but you paid for the onboard. Why not throw that money away?

I tink it'll be oreet... Spesh when the GF3MX version is available.

The Sound aspect - sposed to be one of the best sound chips out atm anyways so it's worth the bit extra reeleh... shud be a nice range of chipsets - time will tell

yes of course they are going to release a bug free uber fast chipset first time round. Wait for nForce 3, then you might have a proposition. Plus its AMD only, which limits it to pikey people and 3r33+ 0v3rcl0cking d00dz

AMD gives more bang for your buck - how is that pikey?

ffs AMD chips are by far the best processors for gaming AND they cost a helluva lot less than a P3/4. That is all.

Won't it perform way better than a GF2MX because the system memory performs better than that onboard an MX card ?

Plus an AGP slot for upgrade. Sounds good to me.

Nope just know three people with Athlons. None of them will buy AMD again. Blame it on VIA all you want (they certainly do), but after their experiences, I'll pay extra for piece of mind.

Oh and frankie, I care what someone who owns a Nova SR thinks. Honest.

How strange. Me and five others I know have Athlons (two of us have VIA) as well and I'd recommend them to anyone. Will definitely buy again.

Ditto - I've 'only' got a Duron 800, with an A7Pro motherboard, and it's great. I would really recommend it to anyone.

its kinda like a console if its all integrated, and hopefully wiv the integration this will optomise the paths between different components making everything faster, plus less hardware woes as developers can test the configuration and and iron out any bugs for it...
