The 40 dets gave me an extra 1000 points in 3dmark2001, but caused all sorts of problems with some games.

Its causing problems on a few of my games - Counter Strike / Commandos2. Keeps on flickering to a different resolution, which is a tad annoying.

If you remove the old drivers and reboot ,rather than installing the new ones over the old, that shouldn't happen m8.
I used "add/remove programs" in control panel, and removed the Nvidea drivers from there. It then says you have to reboot. When it's done that it goes into std VGA mode, you can then install the drivers and hey presto clean install, as it were.
Btw I found myself dropping back to desktop whilst playing RTCW last night, which never happened before with the 30.82 drivers, wonder why that is ?

I did remove the old ones first as it goes & it still happens, tried that fix as well (thx PR) but it didn't help.... doesn't matter anyway I guess cos I never use the CP anyhow, i'll just ignore it till the next set of drivers appears.

How the hell do you turn the gamma up with these new drivers, theres a brightness thing(which changes nowt)but that doesn't change the game gamma. My CS is dark as fuck :(

Right click on desktop > properties > settings > advanced > GeForce 4. A settings panel should pop out on the left of the box. Theres thing in there called overlay controls. You can turn brightness etc up from there, though i notice there isnt a gamma setting per se :(
Since getting this new monitor I havent bothered with them settings, i use gamma 3.1 in cs and it looks fine :)

G, soz wasnt trying to teach you to suck eggs :)

:D Cheers Throddy but none of those controls work, I found that and even the brightness bar has no effect, even on the desktop brightness:(

I had the stupid desk.cpl issue when i went to advanced and no matter what i did it still happened. I tried uninstalling, overwriting etc.

The only way to fix it is to remove the nvrseng.dll from system32

Win2k that is
