NTL cable package...

Bit of an unusual question here I guess; I read on the ntl website that to get cable you have to be an NTL customer (paying them about a tenner a month for analog line rental). What I'm wondering is if you can just pay them the money but stick with my existing BT linerental for calls, payment schemes etc. I'm considering trying to get cable when I return home from uni but I dunno how my dad would feel about changing telco provider :/

I'm thinking that maybe they are trying to rope u in with this linerental so you have to pay them for all analog calls (i.e using the cable to promote their other interests)? Or can my dad keep his existing telephone setup deals and we just pay NTL the money and dont use their analog service (the cable modem service is all I want from them)?

The NTL and telwest phone services are cheaper than BT, why would you not want to change?

With NTL you HAVE to have one of there other services, with Telewest you don't.

Why not get cable TV and leave the phone alone?

However I changed my phone from BT (payed an extra £20 to keep the same number) and it has been cheaper so far with no probs.

Blueyonder charge u only £25 a month for CM ONLY if you have either televison or phone fromt ehma s well, otehrwise its £33.

NTL, both NTL and telwest offer packages whcih gets u standard digital tv and phone line for a tenner, add some channels take it up to say £15 a month. Why would you pay £11 a month just for BT line rental when u could get tv and phone for the same price elswhere?
