NS template for BG

I wanted to make an assassin for the BGs. Albs clearly suck and Shadowblades are <yawn>. Nightshades are where its at....

So to any experienced shades out there..

I am thinking of doing away with CS completely, and speccing pierce, CD and envenom. I am in no rush, and notice that Mythic will be looking at Blademasters in 1.52. This I presume means a fix to CD. So I am speccing it.

So I'm looking for advice, criticism from NS (especially CD specced if there are any) as to how to spec so I can kick some arse in the BG when I hit 24.

i think u are crazy to be doin that to be honest, CS is wot makes u an assasin, i cant imagine any celtic dual styles would leave yellow con caster with about a millimetre of health for the poison to finnish him of while u are legging it incase u get mezzed lol(what a buzz )

I tried NS to lvl 24, cause it sounds fun to run around in BG and backstab, climb some walls and souch. But after some hopeless fights against equal lvl both mid and alb shadish classes I lost big time everytime even if I had full set crafted enchanted orange armor and good orange piercers.

So imo NS really are useless xept the fact that they can climb and fall safe witch is pretty useless anywayz LOL

I deleted the NS to try light eldr instead, GL to you NS, still have to kill grays in yggdra at lvl 50

oh dear oh dear you only lost because you either specced you ns wrong or your not very good at playing one, its a matter of who lands the bs first that determines the out come, and you need dropped armour + weaps to boost your stats. Ask any half decent shade and they will tell u they regulary take out orange con enemys.

Well, I've RvRed alot with my ranger so I know how stelth work hehe :b

I had pretty nice equip, weaps: 2Rib Tickler with 4dex/qui on both and earth crafted molded helm with 3stelth and some other stuff and was speccing high stealth/CS and pretty high pierce and little bit in CD and envenom. I could do mages ofcourse, but who can't? even bard can take out mage. But when I get slaughtered bu other realm shades even when I get the CS attack in, I feel a bit useless. Not very fun to go stealthed around if you can't do anything

And besides that they are also TOTALY useless in team, try to be a lvl 40+ NS and get in to a good group. None want NS in group, cause good groups damage is based on pbaoe or other mages who do lot more dam, and tanks just to keep aggro and take the damage, and healers to heal the tanks. WTF is NS and rangers for...nothing? Rangers are at least very good for solo, but I feel really sorry for NS

Only handy thing is the sense hidden in RvR.

um im level 43 and tank in pbaoe groups, and i can take any even con enemy except clerics and skalds coz of there mez. U must have been a pants player m8.

Hiya

got a few comments to make about the last couple of posts on how gimped nightshades are.

Playing a shade up to lvl 24 and then declaring them gimped because you cant solo the equivalent from the other realms is a touch shortsighted. I guess you already know about the +15% bonus blades(or slash, whatever) get to leather armour (which we a fair deal of infiltrators and all shadowblades weapons give) and the -15% bonus that pierce gives against leather, which from the start gives you a bit of an uphill battle.

Its also a bit of a challenge speccing a shade and if you go for high stealth env and CS early on your damage is gonna suffer due to a lack of speccing in that, Its only when you get up a few more lvls that you realy get the points to play around with to let you balance everything out and do some serious damage. So again, going to the first battlegrounds and getting disheartned because you get killed a couple of times shows a lack of character (or faith in the character your playing).

I'm also not sure why alot of people think that an assassin is a RvR god and once you get up the levels its gank heavan and the only person you need to worry about is who to kill next (oh yeah sorry I forgot, which grey person to kill next . ) If you have a decent spec and good gear, you can take down an orange con player alot of the times (and no, not just casters) if you know what you are doing and get a couple of styles off. Getting away however is a very different story as not that many enemies run around by themselves (except other stealthers and then see above ) which for me anyway means alot of hanging round waiting for someone to be stupid, or doing a suicide run and at least bringing someone down befor their mates jump you, so while challenging and rewarding (and fun) in RvR, shades arn't RvR gods who give people the touch of death.

But the main thing that realy annoys me is people saying in posts that the "feel sorry for nightshades because they are so gimped", please don't feel sorry for me I do alright in the game and have alot of fun doing it, I dont play this for the sympathy of some Moron who thinks they are doing you a favour when they begrudgingly accept you in a group, i'm happy with my chosen class and would recommend it to anyone who has the patience and forward planning to play a character for the long term and not just something they can knock together and gank people on the battlegrounds with.

Rember kids, a nightshade is for life, not just for Christmas..ahem..or the battlegrounds.

NS might be fun for someone, but you really can't regret that it's the class lowest on the "wanted" list in teams. Evade can't beat hero with maxed shield, 1500hp, parry and evade

I thought about make a blade NS though, would be cool to do CS attacks with the glimmerspirit sword with 4spd hehe

But imo and my experience (even I only hit 24 before I got bored of him) NS are really gimped and I found it not very fun.

Might be more fun at lvl 40+ though, but bet that take some time to lvl up a shade that high.

u say all this as a ranger, yet i gotta say the easiest target for me in BG other than a caster is an archer, due to the fact most have bollox stealth, id say i could easily kill 90% of same con archers, useless in an RvR group? nah!! i wont even go into that!! as there use is there for all to see exept u apparently, and why feel sorry for us? we have fun playing the class we want

Not tried BG with my ranger, not playing him much lately. And got 37 with him long time before BG patch. I RvRed alot with him though. Was in yggdra from lvl 21 and kill lotsa orange cons. And at lvl 37 I killed red con and yellow con at same time, both some warrior classes...also kill yellow con shades, I see them, I usually see the equal lvl shades stealthed before they reatch stab me, then I just turn and fire an arrow before they CS me and they got 50% hp and easy finish them melee

in the 20-24 bg most archers are.. erm... not as good as they will soon be, because they havent started to spec stealth high yet, and everybody can see them...

but of course the bg specced archers will have stealth at 20 or something, so theyll be rather good

about see hidden.. i dont really care. my ranger is going to have 40 stealth

NS are real fun to play but in most opinions if u try to spec if for BG u will gimp it for Post 35 RVR. They r very easy to screw up if you dont spec right however at high level NS are some of the biggest rp earners.
To be honest i wouldnt bother with one for BG but if u do want to give it a go try Luckien more's web site forall things nightshade and you cant go wrong.

PS CD is a big no no
