How the hell does stealth work? Why was i able, with 12 stealth spec (alright, 19 after items) to get within inches of a purple con troll? (Venom i believe his name was - fun mezzing you mate :p)
And earlier the same night, i was stealthing along near a group of hibs when Matinex (i think....) sticks an arrow in me. I thought if you became visible to someone you got a god-damn message?
Excuse my newbitude, but I have no experience of how stealth works :)

lo m8 :)

i've found in the past that most blue cons or lower i can see when they are stealthed......with yellows it doesn't happen as much but occasionally it does happen...there was a blue stealther that i could see he thought i couldn't so i killed him :)

duno much about it being a tank but ask sum1 in game at higher stealth lvl and they can probs tell you :p

It's a comparison between your stealth and their level and then there's the 3 sec stealth bubble. Guess you got lucky :)

It all depends on how high your stealth is, and what lvl they are compared to you. A level 50 will see a level 30 pretty easy, unless they have maxed stealth then theyve got a slight chance but get too close and theyll see you.

But a lvl 50 stealther will basically be able to walk right over a level 30 and not be seen. Like when i was 30 and fatbelly was 50 i couldnt see him at all unless i was standing on top of him.

Maybe that purp con troll was afk or too busy chatting ;)

Nah, he wasn't AFK, he charged me as soon as i broke my mezz on him (used my instas defiantly :p)

Guess i was probably just lucky that he didn't uncover me then, but I'm still confused as to how other stealthers (in this case a ranger) was able to target me and put arrows through me, when i was still stealthed on my screen.
I thought i was either stealthed or "Blah uncovers you!"

The server checks every 3 seconds if someone is in your stealth bubble (see Pfy's link), they'll see you. That's the reason you usually see the assassin before they perf you.

thanks for the info :) but it's not often i see them first... i'm usually standing there and BANG!

"Mallus hits you for a truely daft amount of damage! your one dead little biatch! you might get a rez but i'd doubt it so pls go back to m'beo and endure the ride back to ligen and then the mind numbing walk back to emain!" :D

heheheheheh :)

Thats the reason to group with an assassin class, we stand a chance of uncovering others and we're generally suicidal enough to charge them before they get to you ;)

its wierd sometimes the mechanics of stealth . ive had lvl 40+ assasins gank my scout "lvl 22" and i sometimes dont c them . but the majority of the time i see them just before they gank me . creep for example i c him every single time just before he ganks me . but he doesnt destealth . some other assasins i dont c at all . with my mins i not got much in stealth 12 with items i think so far . and ive sneaked up onto purp mids/hibs and mezz'd them without them seing me . ive chased gray cons who had stealthed also and not been able to find them :p but thats the way i like it cos finding/looking for them is part of the fun of rvr .

Landshark im pretty sure its only assasins that gets the "blah has uncovered you" message? At least i thought so, but if im wrong hey ive learnt something new ;)

assassins get that message - but it's not when you get spotted in RvR... you'll get a message "You have a feeling that you are being watched" if you or your group gets spotted by a scout. Only really useful if you're in an epic zone... gives you a chance to dig in.
