so... which company will be running WoW in Europe?

I'm probably just buying the US version anyway...

Blizzard ?

"Blizzard Entertainment® announced plans to build a local World of Warcraft™ team in Europe"

If they build a local team, that means they own it IMHO.
French and german WoW websites (ie : www.blizzard.fr/wow_new/index.shtml) are on the blizzard servers and translated by them.

Don't Vivendi own Blizzard? Wouldn't this therefore make sense?

Not xenophobe, merely anti French :)

Xenophobe = hatred of all races different from yourself

Would have to agree really, shame I wasn't really up for paying extra for getting it imported. Still maybe with a little luck they'll do things differently (maybe patch the euro servers in time with the us... doubtful though, I guess we'll see)

it's suprising anyone choses to base any company in france. They have the worst employment leglisation in europe (well worse for employers, great for workers) If they based it in the uk they could get the staff to work 60 hour weeks for no extra pay and be greatful, in france they will all clock off after 35 hours.....

Damn I wish i worked in france :D

35 hours are not for every worker at all. It's more complicated. Moreover productivity is not too bad.
BTW there is 0 MMORPG based in UK (Everquest, PlanetSide in the Netherlands, AC2 in Ireland, Neocron in Germany, DAOC and WoW in France, etc). There must be a good reason.

PS : As far as I know Australians also work 35 hours a week.

At least we can hope that they don't make the same mistake that happened to Daoc. The English based EU server wont need translation from the US version, where as we will run the same patch version as US. Then the French/German people who wish to play the game in their own language can choose to do so. But with waiting time for patch translation.
Really no reason for the French and German servers pull us English players down with them I think :(
