Noob question :)

Okay, so my template has 9% spell damage on it and as i understand it 10% is the cap, but is this just the cap for equipment, or overall? For example if i took the 3% extra spell damage RA (Forget the name) would that give me 12% spell damage or just cap at 10%? Cheers
