Try and have a realistic idea of what you want to spec in. Even though you can respec (one cert every 24 hours), you'll be gimped for those 24hrs.

Crouching improves accuracy.

Even though you think you are out of the way of the charging magrider, you are infact squarely under him already. (Lag is a big, big killer)

Pick an implant to suit your style of play or to suit the current situation. (Implants can be changed instantly).

Hacking is useful for accessing enemy terminals.

If you have a laggy connection, avoid flying.

Please don't spam voice macros. You never can tell when you REALLY need to alert someone about INCOMING MAXES!

DeadManWalking is commonly known as Shirley.:)

The best advice I can really give you is read the manual! Sounds daft I know but the manual explains all about ANT silos, certification, the weaponry... So on and so forth.

Everything else you'll pick up quickly ingame. Here comes recruitment drive, if you play VS and want an outfit to help you out, give me a shout :)

No.

Hit detection with vehicles is handled client side, the same as weapons. This means that if the person hits you on their side, you take a hit, regardless of where you were on your side.

But surely that means you are lagged on their PC?
Take last night, I sidestepped out of the way of a magrider (to one side of a pillar) I had plenty of room clear, yet I still ended up glued to his radiator.

So therefore I was lagged on his PC, and hence I was ker-splat!

And quite often I will get that ding sound and get 20+ grief points when I didn't see anyone in my line of sight and yet killed someone - and not necessarily infils either..

Only explanation I can offer is that I've lagged.

Don't know what else it could be.

So in escence Gadd, the hit detection is client side, so if you hit someone on your screen (they could be behind a wall on their screen) you will score a hit on them.

Watch out for it, it sometimes makes you grind your teeth with the unfairness of it.

Seeing as the thread got hijacked as per usual (shame on you all :)) ill reply to the initial post.

First thing to do when you enter the game is to look at the "Waypoints" displayed in the small map (top Left) and follow WP2 to the VR training area.

VR training will allow you to try out all the weapons available to you and all the vehicles (plus get you some valuable xp) so you can decide what you want to try first in the live areas.

Next go to the HART building (the big one in the middle of the complex you are in, should have a WP on it).

Here go to the Cert Terminals and choose a few certifications to beef you up for the live fire areas.

Next either /b (broadcast) for a squad or press ESCAPE and select the Instant Action key to go to a hotspot (area of recent fighting) or board the HART and drop on a continent for a walk-about.

May be worthwhile setting up you keymap as well, so you know what keys do what and can set them to your specs (ESCAPE>Keymap).

Other than that, if it goes red in your gun sights, shoot it :)

Did you guys realise that bases only use NTU's when you spawn there and not when you get your weapons/armour and vehicles.

It says that in the manual. I found out after skipping the resources part of the manual

Yes, I tell irritating noobs trying to stop people spawning vehicles this little fact all the time.

Autorepair also wastes NTUs, or so the devs have said.

Vehicles dont use NTU's. It doesnt say that they do in the manual. only spawning uses them.

I know, I never said vehicles did use NTUs. I was saying that I tell people they don't all the time :)

Also, the devs have said that the autorepairing of generators and turrets uses up some NTU of a base, I believe.
