Here I am 5:40am having been woken at 2:30am by my new neighbours loud music and shrieking.

What should I do. Its not the first time. Last Thursday was pretty much the same deal.

I tried some ear plugs but they didnt work. They seem to filter through somehow even though they supposedly reduce sound by 25dB

I suppose the sensible thing is to report the nuisance to the EHA.

Im getting too old for this shit and I have the flu.

Used to have this problem when we live next door to some rough pikey types. Moved in the end, not worth the agro.

Same as

I used to live next door to a rented house - tenants included a wife beating dole twat who regularly would get home at 2am - find she'd locked him out and kick the door down then decorate the house with her.

Called the police every time and in the end we sold up and moved. It was easier.

If they seem like nice neighbours who just party too much and don't realise the noise they make I'd approach them in the morning and let them know that they're keeping you up and it isn't on.

If they seem like *****, call police and get them to shut the party down or move if you can't be arsed with the hassle.

The way everything is these days the best option is probably to move

When my kids were little we lived in a council house and all went well for a few years, then the council moved a scummiest family the world in next door. No male family members (of course) just a mum with 2 teenage daughters (both with kids of course) and countless visitors who would hang around till whatever time they like getting pissed, screaming and shouting in the street, in the house, in the garden, you name it. In the end theres fuck all you can do about it either. It's easy to say go round there with a bat etc, but all that will happen is YOU will end up getting done for it. This actually happened to the bloke who took the house after we left...

We live in a flat here and have suffered with noisy neighbours for a while - unfortunately it's not entirely their fault either, the flat's built with insulated floating floors and cavity walls which carries sound like noones business.
But every now and then we have suffered major nuiscance, mostly from the youngsters in the flat upstairs - constant moans to the landlord and a couple of calls to Environmental Health and it's sorted out.

Cheer up you miserable bastards! It's Christmas! :D

Personally, if it's a Friday or Saturday night then I think it's fair game - but if not then it could be a problem.

If they are new neighbours that have only just moved in recently, you might want to cut them some slack until the New Year. Sure it's inconvenient to you right now, but it is a unique time of year and they might just be partying because it's Christmas. You might find that it settles down after New Year.

If it is taking the piss then pop around to say Hi and let them know that the party sounded good the other night, but could they watch the volume late in the night please. MOST people aren't so bad as long as you're not ranting at them.

If you still have problems, then start the noise diary and get Environmental on the case.

As an internet expert, that is not at all :) I think that's something to did with resonance and vibrations on the skull, you can't block all sound out. They say Beethoven played piano by the vibrations through a special rod he could bite down on. Ear plugs only protect your hearing from high frequency sadly.

I don't think it's fair game, people still work weekends. My sister has the same problem with her neighbours and it doesn't matter what day it is it still keeps my 2 year old niece awake all night. At the very least they could have given warnings to their neighbours before they went ahead and broke the law.

Heh :) No I didnt, which is just as well ...

Being a gun owner makes you actually more cautious about trouble than when you're not. :(

Pity. Surely it's not illegal to kneecap noisy neighbours is it?

I have the flu so its difficult sleeping as it is.

Ive decided to use the councils Environment Officer as it remains anonymous and maybe they'll respond like I did to a warniong letter.

If they are tits Ill get my Electric Guitar out and practice when they go to bed. That works sometimes.

I don't know how I would deal with this situation, it must be horrible.

We live in a semi but our neighbours are a retired couple so get no trouble at all, apart from him being a miserable old twat fuck everything else is great.
