No sound

I just installed Windows XP Home Edition on a friend's computer and the sound works in windows and when you play games like HL etc, but there's no sound on internet games like Runescape etc... I don't want to go back to his house to sort it out but I can't think what the problem might be without looking at his computer; I'm hoping it's something obvious I can email him about?

In IE click Tools>Options>Advanced then scroll down to the 'Multimedia' section and look to see if the 'Play sounds in web pages' option is ticked.

If it's not then tick it and that should solve his problem.

Thanks Prom, he fixed it now anyway; something to do with java, shockwave type scenario....
