No sound, related to Winmm Audio Compatability Device?

I cant get my sound woprking, the plug and play isnt picking up my headphones.

I think it might be my soundcard, but its onboard to my motherboard.

Im stuck

try plugging in some speakers, see if that works

dude, wtf? what about a line out or audio out jack on your pc? link it up to your stereo

That problem seems to have gone away. Its picked up my soundcard, ACER 97 thingy.

Now when I slap my headphones in nothing. Tried 3 sets, not one of them play sound

Except this time, when i go to device manager and scan for new hardware changes, my pc shuts down and restarts :(

Sound/video driver confilct probably.

Remove all sound drivers, remove all graphics card drivers (as they are the thing that tends to conflict), uninstall windows media player, install windows media player, then reinstall graphics and video card drivers (making sure they are the latest).

I unistalled the drivers before i left last night

Come back this morning, everything works again

Can go back to screaming yanks ;(
