i've released a new version of my Nitro2 for Quake2 with many new features.

the most importend new features are p_modified and p_way, which can be used to proof that you are not cheating!

you can get it at:

Err, but does this prevent you getting kicked now and again from some servers?

in the german DeCL league people have to play using Nitro2 to proof that they are not cheating.

Only problem is, BW-Admin 1.66 (latest version and is running on nearly all BW servers) won't allow connections from Nitro 2 V0.48, so I can't get onto almost all BW servers :/.

So until this is fixed, in either BW-Admin or Nitro, I'll have to give Nitro a miss

the reason for the problem is BW-Admin.

it don't allows connections from another ports than 27901. what a pitty that only the win32 version of quake2 is using this port. this feature is not only blocking Nitro2 users it blocks all users of other operating systems too.

that is the reason why i'm not support this methode.

the other problem is that this is no proxy protection at all. every proxy can use this port for the outgoing connection because quake2 will than just allocate the next free port.

the STRICT=2 parameter is just a lame and useless protection for win32 user lovers.

i hope that the next BW-Amin release will tell the admins what they are really doing when using this setting! and it would be even nicer if it is not the default value for STRICT.

if not it's no problem for me to change Nitro2's port allocations.

ps: grab Nitro2 V0.481 at:
nitro.splatterworld.com
nitro.vekoduck.com
or
www.nitroforce.de
