Hey, I'm thinking of coming back to DAoC once again (I always come crawling back) and i was just wondering, what is DAoC like now that NF has been put in? I've got a level 50 armsman, what would the RVR be like for him?
Is it more balanced that it was previous to NF or is it still the same?
Is it still pretty much impossible for an armsman to get a group for RvR?

Thanks in advance

:drink:

most melee chars will have a rough time atm since its mostly range wars out there... unless ofc u like sitting on a keep roof lobbing rocks at passing people.. which can be quite fun watching them run about looking for theyre attacker!!! Arms have never really gotten grps in RvR since pallys fill the spot better... perhaps if you had Bodyguard and shit loads of TOA stuff then yea it might be fun.. but thats a lot of stuff to do before u can start to enjoy it.. if you wanna come back make a caster or scout...

lol what a load of bull.
If you have to be the best of the best it might be true, if ur a casual gamer u can still have fun naked in NF, if thats ur pleasure...

not true - NF makes it far more accessible to non-toaed non-twinked non-gank grouping types.

NF rocks :) if you liked wiping out clueless zergs at amg with your ml10 rr10 pwnzor then you might not like it as much (I dunno - how are the ml10 rr10 pwnzors doing? :)) and it takes quite a bit of getting used to which is frustrating at first but there's an awful lot more out there to do these days.

things are a bit chaotic atm there doesn't seem to be an "lfg channel" anywhere but if we can get one of those and it catches on it might be a bit easier to get even a pickup group to go roaming away from the keeps (or between keeps to cut off reinforcements)

Get a siege skill :) and get some diminutive siege... lobbing rocks is strangely fun...

for the love of god, Flim always has good advice and he is a top bloke, but never ever in your life take spec advise from him, i mean the man has a shield merc, a smithe cleric and a servant necro.

Not true. Svart has only one arti on him, but decent enough stats (lots of non-arti TOA gear of course, but that's much easier to get); during all the keep chaos on Saturday I made 23,500 RPs, the most I've ever made in one day.

Fire wiz rocks.Yeah yeah not any utility like other casters someone will reply i bet but who gives a shit when you do 1k+ bolts sometimes when attacking or defending keeps xD they good fun...their rr5 ra isn't bad either or level a theurg.

NF is ok, just too many damn archers and if you are a light tank you are pretty much screwed vs them.

In your case i would go with fire wiz or a theurg(earth/ice is best i think but it's a case of preferance as the theurg has many viable specs)

The single thing I heard most people complaining about in grp chat and bg chat was the Scout assist train, it's just sick. You can make decent RPs as a melee class even now if you keep your wits about you (and fuckin' Opentransit's shitty hardware doesn't lag you into the middle of an enemy zerg) but NF right now is absolutely God Mode for archers, with casters not far behind.

I'd advice you not to come back.

NF for a tank sucks major ass and if you aren't even toa'd it can only be a nightmare.. Also if you have been out of daoc for some time I don't see a reason to get addicted again.

NF made RvR possible for everyone. Whether that is a good thing remains to be seen.. time will tell. There is such a thing as 'too much zerg'. :)

I've been playing my personal character in RvR recently. He's a shield tank with no ToA bonuses in his template and only RR3. I was running in a half group of friends with a light tank and two archers (no healing, no CC, no BBs) for most of an evening. We took a few towers (including two defended ones), ran into some nice fights, won some, lost some. When we got farmed by high RR ganksquads we went somewhere else and didn't run into them again. We all had a lot of fun and earnt a lot of RPs.
Find your niche and compete there, don't worry about what everyone else is running or how they're equipped, you can have fun with practically any character in NF.

NF is great if you approach it with the right attitude. Lots of variety and fun to be had if you got patience, think creatively and don't spit your dummy out the first time you get zerged.

it doesnt help if your a caster trying to solo just to have 101 archers turn you into a walking pin cushion

If you like to spend 12 hours at a stretch repeatedly defending/retaking the same keep along with 80+ assorted zergmates, plus the same number of enemies, then this is definitely for you.

As for being ToA'd, imo that episode was a complete smokescreen and waste of time and effort - my un-ToA'd, just-made-50 runie can vouch for that.

Well, i did have fun with my armsman, but that was only when i was in a group, and it frustrates me so much when i have to sit there for ages trying to get a group, when i was actually in a group it wasn't too bad because we worked as a group and my specific class didn't have THAT much to do with it if you get what i mean.
So yeah it is fun even if your a class that doesn't "own" everyone, but then it's just the getting groups thing that was annoying.
Although when i got in a guild group that was always good times because i was let straight in :)
Knights of the Round Table ruled......man i want DAoC again.... :eek6:
