Not the actual whole file, just to access normal servers.
Sorted now, though.

For future reference if anyone runs into the same problem : the files that you were supposed to keep safe login.dat and update.dat , just copy them back and shizaaam ! there we go.

In other words you didn't do what the news page told you to do - you just over wrote the login files.....without backing up....
