That's also what many will love with the game. It reminds alot of UO's glory days before Trammel.

BTW MMORPGs usually have a live-span of like 5-10 years, so don't dig DAoC yet, after all UO and AC are still going strong too ...

I dont think DAoC will die once other MMORPGs come out.

Sure it might lose some players, but that makes it fun for every1 else that still plays because they could go rvr in 1fg again :clap:

UO seems to still be going, this game was so much better than DAoC before Publish 16, then it just went down hill o_O

Na, just look at daoc, some/most of the biggest whiners are still here (on this board), but then every mmpog is infested with whiners - eve, planetside (two of the newest)

It really depends if the game is 'drop' dependent or not, because if it is it will just result in a few guilds of leet dudes playing and no one else - good thing imo - they wont bre fcuking up all the other new games (a little too much wishfull thinking there I think)

Edit: If it is not 'drop' orientated or if you don't lose all your good gear when you die, then it might just be a damn good game :) Killing other player = fun, getting ganked by a bunch of twats after gaining a damn rare drop and having it looted = not much fun for you....

imo...

WoW : maybe, can't think of anything that actually dooms this MMORPG yet.

Horizons : Most of the beta noises seem to say, "meh". I have a suspicion they'll have watered down most of the unique stuff (I be teh Dragon!!!11!! etc) by launch, and it'll leave you with another EQ/AC clone.

Middle Earth, the D&D licence MMORPG, Warhammer Online : No. In both cases for obvious reasons around the fact that these MMORPGs will be caught between continuity and a functional/moderately well balanced game.

EQ2 : is still PvE only, but the developers seem to have grasped the basic concepts that...
1) you can't boil the ocean at launch, so promises have been fairly measured.
2) If you are going to be PvE only, content > all.
3) Static spawn point camping is not a desirable game mechanic.
4) Corpse runs = not fun
This puts EQ2 ahead of every pve MMORPG under development imo. It won't kill DAoC though, because it has no RvR equivalent.

UOX : ffs, no.

I dont think horizons sounds watered down at all.. It seems to me that it is going to be one of the more all encompasing mmos... having dragons as a playable race should be pretty cool, but i am more impressed with how developed the crafting system is supposed to be.. i never (or at least not yet) got into beta.. so i cant speak first hand.. there are a lot of mmos coming out though, so who knows which one will turn out to be the best.. but i think horizons has a lot of potential

I got high hopes for the matrix mmorpg

As for WoW, its not even in beta yet and blizard never release when they say they will. so could be another year before its released

Dark and Light - looks really great, have HUGE world and really big potential
Dragon Empires - some new clues ... lets see the beta :)
Darkfall - on the "paper" looks really nice - full PvP - but if this small and unknown developer can do this good (balance all stuff), this game could attain big success.

Don't worry Repent, we won't make the same mistakes you did. I know you're sad and bitter about it... but having no friends is no excuse to try and preach about social lives to other's. Besides... if we followed your advice we'd all be pulling down our trousers and getting someone to take a picture. :eek:

Incidentally, all you people preeching about how great the 'Real Life' MMORPG is, i've got news for you. Its over-rated. I went through the manual the other day, there was all this shit about being able to Fly, and having Laser eyes and super-strength and X-ray vision, and being faster than a speeding bullet. I jump out my window trying to fly and what do i do? Break my fucking leg thats what!!!! I reckon that guys a serious hack, and i tried to report him but then did a piss test on me!!! Now i'm locked in a little padded room and i'm not allowed to use safety scissors because their too god damn sharp!!!!

I'd just like to say to everyone, if you see 'Superman' or anyone from his Guild report the faggot and get them banned, their ruining the game!!! ;)

Aint heard anyone mention Final Fantasy XI online...

I totaly loves games like FF7, FF7 was the best game I have ever played, I will certainly give FFXI a try, it comes out in the US on the 28th of Oct 2003, so im off to order it :)

pfft...if u played Legend of Mir you'd be used to worse, ppl pk you and u loose that uber rare item/wpn and someone steals it ^^

i think hardly anyone knows what lom is so use eq:p

ppl have been killed over that :p in eq:)
