The ongoing disaster that is GOA's DAoC web prescene has this to say...
Apologies for those who have already seen it but the daoc site is running slower than a Simulcrum through molasses, so I thought posting it here might help some people.
In summary:
- If you can't register it's your own damn fault and nothing to do with us guv'nor.
- Also, if you think you're getting any more patches before summer you can go jump - because we can't be arsed with the translation.
OK, maybe my experience of the last 2 days inserted a little 'attitude' into my summary, but the basic gist is there.
This news will be a bit special due to the release of Shrouded Isles.
Official website :
Our website has been under heavy pressure since Wednesday due to the incredible amount of players trying to access the various secured pages (activation and subscription). Today, the traffic is lower and while you may encounter some slowdown, you should not have any trouble activating or renewing your account. Remember to empty your internet cache and only to use direct links from the homepage.
Our customer support tool RightNow has also been under siege since the release of Shrouded Isles and we had to make it unavailable for some time. You will be able to contact the Customer Service as soon as possible. The traffic on our platform has been very heavy for the last 48 hours ; dozens of thousands of add-ons were sold and while our customer service has a lot of reports to answer, things are getting better and better every hour. A temporary webpage, with the most common issues, can be found here.
Some technical information :
Some players noticed that they were missing some characters on their SI CD KEY. If you have 34 characters, we adapted our registration process and you will be able to register even with only these 34 characters. Your CD Key will therefore work normally. If you still have issues, please double check that you typed the CD Key correctly.
Some players with a GeForce 4 reported that they were unable to see the new water effects. This is normal if your card is of the MX series. Only GeForce 4 Ti (4200, 4400, 4600, and 4800) can display the water effects fully.
What now ?
Various minor fix patches (both client side and server side) are being worked on and will be applied on the live servers early next week. We will give you a plan of the maintenances as soon as possible. We are now entering the normal routine after every big patch. We are also keeping a very close eye on the new SI zones since the network architecture has been modified for the add-on. The server upgrades will also carry on and the next servers to be upgraded will be Ys and Stonehenge. The add-on is live, but there is still lots of work ahead for our technical teams.
The translation team finally received their Christmas gifts and will take a well deserved holiday after 3 months of intensive work and before the arrival of the next patch. As of today, we are not 100% sure of what the next version will be, but most likely it will be the patch 1.59, maybe even 1.60 which is still being tested in US.
That is more or less what will happen in the coming days.
We would like to thanks everyone who offered both patience and understanding on the very long Wednesday, the volunteers who helped us a lot during the tests. We thought this add-on had to be patched on Wednesday no matter what, and according to your feedback, this was the way to go.
Happy hunting everyone and have a good week end !
