I know it's pushing it asking here BUT I thought I'd give it a go.
Me and a few mates (6 in total) are planning to goto newquay next month to have a go at surfing and getting drunk and stuff :D anyway we need a campsite. The problem is my mates want one near a beach. So we found one and everything was fine until it said no groups I wouldn't mind if we were all lads or whatever but since it's two couples and two single blokes I find it a bit stupid that they are having none of it. :/

So does anyone know of any good campsites near a nice beach?

ooh man! Newquay. The only paradise i found in the UK.

Myself and my family went to a campsite called "Sunhaven Valley" i think it was only about a mile to the main beach if that, they had loads of things to do like CrazyGolf/Fishing/Surfing etc...

Was the best place ive been... havent been in about 8yrs tho :(

Information:

Sun Haven Valley Holiday Park

Have you got transport? If so it's worth looking further afield than newquay, Gwithian has a huuuuuge beach, decent surf and campsites, St Ives too. Both within 30-45 mins of newquay by car.

I live about 15 miles from Newquay, so if you come up with any odd place names let me know and I'll decipher as best I can ;)

For the love of god tho, do NOT go into a pub with your wetsuit rolled halfway down talking about how mad the surf was unless you want to become the laughing stock of the Cornish (and that's pretty fking bad coming from us;)). You will not look local, you will look like a tit :D

Considering I'm 4 Stone overweight and never surfed before in my life that's not likely! :D

Most camps websites seem to have mini-maps and stuff.

What you could do is tell me:

1) Where to go in newquay, bars, nightclubs etc.
2) Stuff to do around there (we have at least one car) which doesn't include surfing :p (I know there's a zoo and a waterpark but I'm not convinced about them :))

cheers.

/edit
trem I need to test out my new tent. I'm going v2004 and fancy making sure I can put it up. :)

I could put it up in his garden I suppose

If you're heading down there, make sure you go to a little village called Cadgwith, on the Lizard Peninsula. I was down there a couple of months ago, its the most beautiful unspoilt Cornish fishing village ever, and the pub there does cracking food and beer.

Newquay places for booze = Barracuda, Koola Bar, Sailors, The Central, Newquay Arms. Once you've tried to get in all of those and got fed up with enormous queues, The Beach is a cheesy little club at the Sailors end which always has decent promos but noone wants to go to :)

Newquay Zoo is ok, you can go see my adopted Red Panda \o/ Make sure you go to a Meadery at least once, there are a few down here (St Agnes, Redruth, Truro, Newlyn etc). They're medeival eating houses where everything is super deep fried, you eat with your hands, get pished and get served by barefoot wenches.

It's not very laddish, but The Eden Project is very impressive the first time you see the domes.

If you're looking for a good pasty, I can thoroughly recommend Blewetts, Rowes and Philps bakeries. If you want to do some shopping etc take a trip into Truro for your HMVs etc. If you want a nice big beach to go stare at tourist norks or just relax, Gwithian/Hayle beach is good, stretches for about 4 miles I think all tolled.

I'll think of more when I get to work and wake my brain up ;)

cheers babs, I've been to sailors and was suprised to find that the small door at the back led to a fecking huge club! :D I kept thinking this was a tardis-pub. :)

Also the meadery sounds very good.

On the road between chiverton cross (the big roundabout on the a30 nr newquay) and newquay itself is callestick cider farm, that's a good laugh. There's an ice-cream farm just up the road from that which does seriously good ices.

DO NOT go to either 'The Zone' (may hear it called twilight too) or 'Club Euphoria' (formerly The Berkely) if you venture out of newquay. Both are dives, I spent the better half of my late teens/early twenties at the Berkely tho, good fun at the time, never again.
