newbie....servers

ok i am a newbie to quake 3 and i havent used barrys world much the thing that im puzled with is the servers, public servers.

First of all when i want to play in one i cant because the ip address is erm weird its made of words instead of numbers.

Second when i do type it in it takes ages to connect im on 56k but still i connect way faster than not connecting.

if any one can tell me how to get into the servers and im sure its a simple way and i am just asking a stupid question but...

then type one of the following

/connect 213.221.174.4:27963
/connect 213.221.174.4:27962
/connect 213.221.174.4:27961


the fisrt one is modem only, so it might be a bit nicer for you


tbh, its alot easier to download gamespy and use that. It can be got of most cover disks or dloaded from

get that and i/someone will tell you how to add the bw master server list (q3master.barrysworld.com:27950).
