Newbie Question - RA3

I've searched for this questions, but couldn't find the answers. So sorry, if this has been asked b4

I don't seem to be able to listen to any music while playing RA3. Within the music options (in ra3), I have tried playing the default music and playing mp3 i have elsewhere on my PC, but they never seem to play( in RA3).
I've tried the different options ie 'Always play', 'Play when not fighting' etc, but it never works.

Also in the music section, all (including the default songs) the songs show as 0.00 time, and i can't play them, even if i click on the 'play' button'.

This happened to me when I used my onboard soundcard - I think it was a SB 128 or suchlike - if you read the file that comes with RA3, they deny any responsibility for incompatabilities - try updating your driver software - I ended up getting a SB Live - this solved my problems.

The server is likely to be running at "sv_pure 1" which means that you probably cannot use the mp3 player, or the chat option. I don't use either, so can't say for certain, but I would think this is likely to be the case. sv_pure 1 is ID's cheat protection kinda thing and should not allow the running of external applications from within q3, amongst other things.

Personally I thought that they removed the MP3 player from the game. I used to love listening to some tunes while I was dead :/
And, yes I was listening to music more then playing
