Newbie looking for help :)

Hi all,

I've been playing SWG a few weeks now and had a few questions if anyone can help :-

• I’m using a Scout Blaster (spd 1.7, min/max 60-123) and after having looked at some master weaponsmith’s vendors I have become concerned that there doesn’t seem to be much better in the game. Am I totally wrong here? If so what have I got to look forward to? :)

• Is there a right / wrong time to start pvp? I’m totally clueless on this front so wouldn’t know how to take part in PvP anyway so any advice on this front greatly appreciated :)

• Any suggestions for viable combat or crafting professions? The only reason I ask is that there still seems to be a fair few gimped skill lines atm and was wondering if there were some which actually work as intended yet? Yes this sounds a harsh criticism of the game but after making a start in Bio Engineering I feel it’s justified.

• I’m starting to find the skilling up a bit too much of a grind, please share some tips for great ways to spend my time :)

Many thanks in advance :)

FWG 5 or something is best, buy 3, slice them all, and look whats best, sell rest.

u can start pvp when u wanna, but i suggest when u have something good to use, somethign what kills and something what u can use to freeze them.

pvp is really easy, if u imp, go near AH and hunt down those who do missions to learn something, if u rebel go near bestine and do same thing, u learn from those 2 places, planet is tatooine.

if u wanna craft, then do doc , CM, smuggler, and craft what they can, doc buffs r uber when u master, and also spices r good, if u wanna craft like weapons/armors/houses/harvesters, but 2nd account or do it on other server, if u really wanna kill something at pvp, and do it good, then u need to have aslo good skills, crafting dont kill peeps =)

i usually go hunting solo, kill 7-8 imps then head back, if i stay there longer, i will get hunted down with at st, and alone cant do much vs at st

Thats a nice scout blaster tbh, but as Fin said, a FWG5 when sliced by a master can be better.

PvP can be played at any time really, but i would suggest choosing your faction carefully before you start.

As for crafting, speaking as a former Bio Engineer, i would say dont bother at the moment, the BE skill tree is bugged to hell, far superior pets can be tamed in the wild and SOE seem to be intent on turning BE's into vets.

Architect is crap, the grind is boring and especially on Eclipse where the market is super-saturated with structures you wont sell much for any real profit.

Weaponsmith is a good choice, as is armoursmith due to the fact that all weapons and armour degrade so there is a continuous market for such items. A full set of Composite armour sells for up to 900k atm ;)

Droid Engineer is also bugged and broken atm, all droids are basically generic but look slightly different, the only real difference between them is what modules are put in.......most of these are bugged as well. Combat droids were nerfed badly recently and now suffer perma-death as well as crappy stats, generally the market for droids is very small except that soon Bounty Hunters will only be able to obtain the droids they need from Droid Engineers.

Best advice i can offer is to not grind continuously, for crafting sample while you craft, also Artisan missions are very profitable and net you a small amount of Crafting XP.

For combat i choose to roam as much as possible and kill whatever i find, rather than camp a spawn. Groups are a more fun way of gaining combat xp.

no weapon is technically the best becouse each weapon is good for differant situations, differant damage types, armour piercing, ham costs, range modifiers etc. i personally carry around 1-2 of each type of pistol ( except dl44's, cdef's and the lower types )

As for architect, when player citys come around things will change.

p.s : anyone got over 400 max dam on a fwg5 yet after slicing/power ups ? i got soooo close the other day.
