Hiyas, wasn't sure where to ask for impartial advice so thought this would be a good place :)

I've been selling an item on ebay for the first time, I got one bid so far and is going ok. But someone just emailed me asking for a buyout price, a friend told me to reply with a reasonable price so I did, and now he's asking where to send the paypal money.

Should I go ahead and do the deal? I'd like the money as it's probably more than I'd get through the auction, but I assume this is against ebay rules and what would happen to my auction listing?

Thanks for any advice (speedier the better :D )

erm I think if you're selling you have the right to withdraw an item from an action whenever you like (people advertise cars and stuff there and then withdraw when the get a better offer from a newspaper ad). If the cash is in your account...

Your sound mate. I have been trading on ebay for a few years now and have a positive rating of over 260. If you have got an email saying you have the dollars that is fine. Once you are registered with PayPal you will be able to withdraw that money as sterling.
As you have a payment confirmation email it means your buyer has already sent you the money via his visa/mastercard. Therefore he cant back out now or cancel the payment transaction. The Money has been paid to paypal and in return they are forwarding the money onto you. You will get your money in about a weeks time once you decide to withdraw it

Nice one thanks for that.

He must have been crazy throwing his money at someone with a 0 seller rating though. Lucky I'm honest, I could have taken his cash and carried on with the auction :p

As far as I remember, you can withdraw from an auction, unless its the last 24hrs.

Your aware that Paypal charge you to withdraw your cash, yes? Its better to (if your gonna buy anything on Ebay) to leave it in there and use the Paypal funds to buy with.

Ending autions early is usually frowned upon unless there is a good reason.

I wouldn't make a habit of it.
