New to the game, can't log in , help if you can!

Hi all,

I finally bought this game....the last time I played it was during the beta test.

I have managed to register an account on the camelot-europe webpages and I have a subscription id and game id (with passwords). I have checked the status of my game password and it says OK on the camelot europe site.

But when I log into the game I cannot. I receive a pop-up instantly that says invalid username and password.

I have tried changing my game password multiple times and retrying, I have cut and pasted the password in to avoid mistakes, but it is all to no avail. I cannot get in.

What bugs me is that the 'Invalid username or password' pops up instantly and I cannot even tell if the application is accessing the login server or not.

Whilst the 'invalid' pop-up is on the screen the login screen status window still shows that the application is trying different login servers. No joy though :(

Has anyone else suffered this? Is there just a delay in the login information hitting the game servers? Is there a magic route in?

My system specs:

Pentium III 600Mhz
NTL Cable Modem with Linksys BEFSR41 router (I have tried setting my PC to act as a DMZ whilst logging in - no joy either)
Win2k
GeForce3 Ti500
Creative Labs Live! 1024 Soundcard (with new driver pack)
DirectX 8.1b
Win2k/XP Detonators (October dated version)

The first ever time you installed, and typed your CD-key, did the game do a short update and then say that the application needed to be restarted?

If not, maybe you should try reinstalling the game, and then triple-check that you are 100% you type the correct game-id and game-password to play.

Haven't heard of this one before :(

Only thing I can recommend is that you use RightNow and see what they can come up with.

Never had that problem , but bear in mind if you opt to change your password at the account screen and you try to log into the faqs section , you have to use the ORIGANAL password you were given

Hi again,

I have used that subscription@goa.com e-mail address twice now in the last 48 hours and I have had no response from them. I get the feeling that GOA are shockingly bad at customer service compared to the US support team.

I can log in with my subscription ID to the Camelot-Europe site quite happily and I can change my Game ID password quite happily, it just boils down to the fact that the sodding thing doesn't work on the actual login servers.

This may just be a problem with New Account users like myself which is why it hasn't popped up in a major way. I just wish that I could use the US support to resolve this (i.e. phone them!) rather than sending an e-mail to what at the moment seems like a house with no lights on.

The stupid thing about Right-Now is that you can't submit a question without a Game ID - how dumb is that?? Why not link it to the Subscription ID??? I can't even use the damn thing to raise a problem!

Is there any chance someone could raise a post for me stating that New Account users like me cannot get in at the moment? I would be very grateful.

VidX has already raised it with GOA. As soon as a GM checks their forums they'll know... From personal experience though, I hate to have to say it, but I doubt you'll get a response from anyone till sometime Monday...

Dont they have any staff working at weekends?

Hopefully they will get their fingers out their ass***** before Monday, with so many paying costumers then things gotta work smoothly!...

I now know that its not an unique issue, so personally I'd be pretty mad if this werent fixed by tomorrow (which I deep inside know it wont). Theres nothing more irretating to have bought a new game, come home and then find out it doesnt work..

If anyone knows a GM, politely kick their ass from me :)

Evening folks,

1st of November was indeed a public holiday, hence, low staff at GOA. While you'll get a more detailed answer from the CSRs, just some things I wanted to post:
- After subscribing, check your "account" section on the official website and scroll down to the "invoice" part. There, see if you subscribed ok and check the dates. Under some circumstances, there can be a delay up to 24 hours between you signing up and your subscription starting (billing process, check with banks, etc)
- Be sure NOT to copy/paste your password from the email you received. Type it in manually. (If you DO copy/paste, try in something like notepad before, copy/pasting from emails often puts a blank at the end).
- You got 2 things to help you if you can't get things to work: Rightnow (http://faq.camelot-europe.com) and subscription@goa.com (that's for billing/accounts problems ONLY). When using RightNow, you will need to check at least one FAQ before being able to "ask a question" (button will appear as soon as you check a FAQ).

I'll contact the billing folks as soon as possible to see about the new accounts issue.

Thanks Kemor - glad you are able to help us out.

My wife and I can't wait to play.

Its been a long time since I last saw DAoC - I played in the beta and I remember you from the boards before they vanished.

I have PM'd you with my Subs IDs - it might help them track any problem down.

Cheers

Berek.

O...K....

Tonight at 1.50am I received 3 e-mails from daoc@camelot-europe.com. All three were the auto-generated ones that contain the CD-Key, Subs ID and Game ID plus passwords.

I may have generated them by selecting lost password in the Right-Now log on screen (it occured to me I could test to see if my userid had actually been set up to see if it sent my password to me), but I cannot be sure as I have tried since and nothing has happened.

What I received was three e-mails, definitely with my CD-Key details, definitely with my Subscription ID and password that I have been using and the right Game ID, but the Game ID password was different. Hooray I thought, I might have hit something here - my password is different.

So I logged onto DAoC and lo and behold, I got into the game trouble free! Hooray!

BUT and I sincerely hope this is normal.....

When I accessed both Excalibur and Prydwen to set up a character, I found that both had four characters on varying from Level 15 up to Level 38. Do I get pregenerated characters or is there something seriously f*cked up here? I have a horrible feeling I now own someone elses characters on my CD-Key, or just as bad, the registration server was so screwed, it has assigned me with someone elses Game ID and not autogenerated one properly for me.

Thoughts anyone? Do I really have a level 38 pregenerated character?

Can one of you others with the login problem try and retrieve your Game ID password using the Right-Now Login screen and see what you get?

Well my friend bought an account yesterday, same problem as described here, account and password incorrect.. We tried new passwords etc. and nothing helped. I sure hope GOA gets its arse in gear over this, gonna be a lot of players with new accounts getting stressed :p

And pregenerated characters? rofl, maybe they are feeling so sorry for you they decided to help you along levelling :)

Or more likely, something has screwed up, you probably have someones characters there :-\

[Edit] Just an extra bit of information, we could log into RightNow using the game user and pass, just not the game itself :-\

Seriously I've mailed both support@camelot-europe.com and subscription@goa.com , and havent heard a single word from anyone yet.. I find this costumer service VERY bad and I find it very concerning that no one has touched this problem yet..

This is turning more into a general problem than a unique, why not execute it before it gets to heavy and irretating..

>>Your question has been received. You should expect a response from us
within 24 hours.<< why keep peoples hope up with such an email, my 24 hours has pasted, how long time more should I expect to past, before someone notices my problem

Well...mine and the wifes was fixed yesterday. I got an e-mail confirmation of correct game IDs for both of us.

Basically the registration server was up the spout and wasn't turning out new Game IDs for new registrants. If you haven't had a response yet, make sure you copy the details of each e-mail you send into the chase up that you send along with e-mail IDs - that will at least make GOAs job a little easier and ensure that your e-mails are all dealt with at once.

Hope you have success soon m8.
