one thing before you buy a Nvidia,
you cant run 2 cards of different models whereas with a Ati you can run 2 different cards in parallel provided they are fairly rescent.
E.g you could run a X1600 with a X1900xt, and it will use the X1900 primarily and the x1600 for the physics (you will need to run the drivers for the x1900)
just something more to bear in mind before you make your decision,
but as you said ATi is pretty bad with drivers, example you cant utilise a Ati 1900 to its full potentiol because daoc cant handle higher than Catalyst 5.2
Bear in mind i found almost every other game works, so tbh i put it down to bad programming by mythic (nothing new there) that the Catalyst 6.6 doesnt work on DR

ive played some of the highest demanding games out (FEAR, TES4 etc) for HOURS on end with no problems. are you saying the CPU and GPU arnt needing juice when they are running?
also if you want to go SLI now, at scan you buy two 7800GTs for about £350 in a bundle deal thing. compared to one ATI 1900 what ever the hell itis. i seen the master xfire edition was like near on £400.
