I saw that on some TV program was in germany i Think, they found it was cheaper to drive the huge things across the country then it was to take them to a new site in pieces.

If i remember they are mining tools or somthing that cut through the rocks.

they drove over roads etc even peoples backgardens to get to the new site.

imagine waking up to that tearing through your back yard!!

It is a mining tool (bloody big one too). They use it to stip away small mountains of coal and other resources. However, I do agree that it would make an impressive addition to anyone's arsenal, urban demolition for preferance.

May I be the first to hail our new robot overlords? Should you need human advisors in your new Supreme Earth Council, I will be only too happy to offer my local expertise to your glorious endeavour.

They have moved whole villages wich got in the way of those babies back in East Germany. The holes these things make are so big that when they got the idea to fill em with water they channeled the river Spree and it would still take 2 years or so to fill one.

They are one of the "major achievments" of socialism. (Beside some silly concrete wall and sentry guns for example.)

There's been a show of Amazing Machines (Discovery Channel) about this device. and well... it'd take a whole lot of trolls to pull that thing to some keep, but once it's spinning,, the keep is down in 10 seconds :p

You'll be happy that we have it when the machines turn against us. As long as we can keep that thing under human control.
