I actually think it's well brought to the 2010 era, as fitting as any comicbook setting in the future.

Don't really care about the outfit that much, black chitin is cool and all, but if he doesn't have his oldiegoldie gun, spinning of said gun and "...or there will be" *dramatic pause* "trouble" in there somewhere, not good :p

To be fair, the original isn't THAT far off.

original robocop is the only movie of the entire franchise worth watching.

My thoughts exactly. And that's its problem; because of Iron Man you look at it and think "man in a suit", whereas the original really did look like a robot with a human head. Really wish they weren't remaking this.

What makes the original Robocop suit iconic isn't its design; it's how it walked. Provided this new one walks in a similar manner I don't see the problem.

Like Tom said. It's the overall of it, so will reserve judgement for a later dredd.

Try and get the Criterion Collection edition, its kind of a director's cut, with loads of stuff they couldn't show at the cinema. Nice and gory when Murphy gets gunned down.

As foe the remake, Hollywood can CUNT RIGHT OFF AND GET AIDS OF THE SOUL, with all this classic remaking business. First Total Recall, now this. Verhoeven's films were awesome (ok maybe except Showgirls), leave them the fuck alone!

Agree.

The guy who's remaking robocop says they're taking all the verhoven subtext out of it - like they did with total recall.

I.E. Dumbing-down already pretty dumb (but fun) films.

I.e. taking out what made them so good in the first place.

I don't understand how Hollywood still doesn't get that all that intelligent subtext is what makes action movies great, not the action alone - that's why so many action movies these days are complete shite. I've not watched Total Recall yet, but it looks so shallow it's upsetting.

Wait till they reach Blade Runner. :X3:

Its the cynicism of it that annoys me. You know how the pitch meeting went:

I wouldn't be surprised if Officer Murphy turns out to be secretly a billionaire genius...

Only thing that worries me is that the legpart might not be big enough to hold the best pistol ever made in movies.
