The UC Quake3 Guide has had many updates in the last few days but this one may be of interest for those wishing to stress their system a little more when benchmarking.
21.12.1999 Updated the Connection, Framerate and Visual Tweaks and added two custom demos to be used for benchmarking and tweaking purposes, both stress the graphics/cpu subsystem quite heavily but in different ways.
