It can be me but since the latest patch the grouping aint really that good ? even with a small level difference it seems the lower group members cant hit the enemy's or dont get exp or is this me ?
No it's not just you, that is spot on. The developers want to stop people farming purple mobs which has been going on pretty regularly. Some of the mobs in Brickstown could be killed pretty handily by some classes/specs ten levels or so lower than the mobs.
However the changes made in the recent patch (making mobs over 4 levels higher than the person virtually unkillable and uncontrollable) has made grouping very difficult. The closer the level range of the group members the better.
Rather than mess about with groups most of the high damage output classes prefer to solo for maximum xp gains. So most of the groups defenders or controllers get they are the highest level, which makes their xp pretty crappy fighting white or yellow cons (to them) in a 4+ person group.
Thankfully the developers have realised the error of their ways and intend to change it a 7 level difference that matters, and not 4. Hopefully this will lead to better groups in future.
This still doesn't fix the problem that controllers and defenders have in getting decent groups. Such is the damage output of some classes that very little healing or buffing or even controlling is needed. Yet, for the most part, soloing as a defender or controller is a painful and boring task.
I'm still progressing, however, but it's more down to having made friends with some of the good xp classes. My fire tanker friend helped me get 5 bulbs in 1 hour yesterday in Terra Volta, and another group of friends - an invulnerable tanker and a couple of AE blasters - helped me get 4 bulbs in about the same time today (at level 25).
Hopefully things will improve for my controller at 32 with the top pet available, but it does seem a long way away.... Roll on the new patch!
