I'm complimented by the fact that this is the second time in 2 days someone has gone to a forum to bitch about Valve "milking HL..." I won't argue with our team being mistaken for a rather large company, but I just thought I should clarify things a bit here.

Doesn't look bad, but the engine is getting a bit dated. No offence Mr. Squrriel as I see you are going to attempt to update the engine a little.

None taken. We knew from the start that there'd be people out for our heads for not only doing a HL mod, but for basing it around the original game nonetheless. In all honesty, the response we've gotten so far far exceeds my expectations for the type of reaction.

Just keep in mind the whole idea behind this is for us as a team to get together and really challenge ourselves to see how far we can take this -- It being SP, we really don't have to worry about whether or not the game is 'dying' (even though HL player numbers actually have been increasing of late); people still play single player Quake episodes for crying out loud!

I will say, though, that a portion of our team will be joining me in an additional mod effort for one of the next-gen engines a ways down the line... We haven't forgotten that there are newer games out there.

Quite simple, its been *officially* announced, i assumed from that its going to be sold commercially, and published through Sierra.

If you design a car and use someone elses engine design, you have to pay them, same with games, Valve probably take a cut of the publishing fee.

I dont know the legal position, or whatever publishing deal you've signed, but thats what I assumed.

Yes, I am aware the post is on the Valve ERC. There have also been posts there about Half-Life Rally and Natural Selection, two mods which are not affiliated with Valve.

We have no publishing deal.

We are a free distribution mod.

We are not affiliated with Valve or Sierra.
