I have heard that no more Guilds can be created (on Hib/Exc) because the maximum limit was exceeded.

Is that true?
Is that a problem only on that Realm/Server?
If true any solution available soon?

Ony Hib/Excalibur? rofl, i don't think so. If there cant be more Guilds right now then blame the albs ;)

I am not sure if it has something to do with the amount of existing guilds, but i do know that it is impossible to create a guild atm on Alb/Excal.

I know someone has been in touch with GOA about it, and they say they can't find the cause of the problem, but kinda hope that patch 1.69 will fix this. Or that's what i understood about it anyway.

So i guess we'll have to wait several more weeks then before we can finally create a new guild :mad: :mad:

It must be a server thing rather than realm thing, Hib have 169 guilds while Alb have 300. If it was due to a realm having too many only Alb would be suffering.

You cannot create any more new guilds on Excalibur and some French and German servers (on any realm) because the maximum limit of guilds has been reached. We are working with Mythic to get a fix for this problem and will let you know as soon as you can create new guilds again.

Baah just delete some crappy 1-man guilds that havnt been on for ages, must be a whole bunch of them.

ex. Nolby Pride, Dem Hibbies, Vengeance and fluff... Man I'm funny today :)

were did you found the guilds/realm info ? according to duskwave if you search on guilds with members between 1 and 10000 members it shows 175 hib guilds, 307 alb guilds, 252 mid guilds. would be wierd if it diffrence from the other stat site's..

haha ;)

Unfortunately it's apparantly not as simple as just deleting inactive guilds but the problem is known and being worked on.

Well we checked on Duskwave the number of guilds on Alb/excal the first day we tried to create a new guild, it was something like 311. Anyway the next day we looked and it had reduced to 310, so we thought it was worth a try creating a new guild to take the old ones place. Didnt work however....

Does this mean its a still a server cap problem?

Additionally my mate had a response from Rightnow saying it was a bug, rather than a server cap problem. So whats the story, morning glory?

I got it from duskwave too :confused:, i only did a min of 1 no maximum although that shouldn't make a difference considering you max.

EDIT

Just realised, i chose a min of 1 rp's not members.

That is ID 2999 on the herald, I wasn't able to find a guild with a higher ID than that one but oddly enough it turns up on Prydwen too:

Not sure what causes that. Anyway the guild IDs are definitely assigned in order of creation (or at least they used to be) since the first guilds created on Excal and Prydwen respectively were both assigned ID 10 (0-9 are reserved; when I was actually able to view them on the herald XML they showed up as internal test guilds):

I have no idea if this means there is a maximum number of guilds per server set to 3000 but if you are working with a database that has an auto-incrementing ID field you can't re-use the same ID even if you delete what was using it. That would explain the issue with not being able to free up more guild slots.

Would be nice if Goa did delete the 1-man guilds. Tbh I think the idea of being able to make a guild 'just for you' is kind of stupid. Reminds me of this time in Aegir...

I think it prolly has to do with that it just looks at last guild created and takes that ID adds +1 for the new guild. So even if you delete really old guilds they probably wouldnt have an effect as the latest guild still keeps the same ID (unless mythic fixes this and you can do a cleanup once in a while, deleting old guilds and then re assigning ID's to guilds or some other way).
Off course this is pure guesswork (and therefore can be horribly wrong :p)based on what Revz said that there are guild IDs (atleast for xml).

changing current guild IDs would screw current XML parsers for specific guilds cos youd need to find your new number, not a particularly big problem, just annoying.

That is what I meant by an auto-incrementing ID field:

Normally things are setup so that you don't have the slightest possibility of new data overwriting older records, hence why your auto-increment field will always start from the largest existing value +1 when looking to insert a new ID even if gaps might exist earlier on.

Furthermore if player records hold something like the ID of the guild you are a part of then re-numbering the database to remove wasted space isn't an option as it would screw up everyones guild affiliation. Anything else referenced by guild ID would be broken as well. You could search for gaps and force an insert at a particular ID but there is always the worry that you might overwrite some real data accidentally. Of course this assumes that there actually are gaps where guilds are deleted. I would bet that guild data is held indefinitely as I'm not aware that Mythic/GOA have ever purged information from their databases.

In case you don't know, GOA have fixed this now:

The guild creation system is now active again on all servers. From today onwards it is possible to create guilds on Ys, Brocéliande, Excalibur, Avalon and Stonehenge, the servers where the limits fixed by Mythic had been reached. To enable this we have had to, amongst other things, erase the oldest inactive guilds. This process, similar to what Mythic has done on the US servers, will be periodically repeated if needed.

All the players who were waiting for it can now create their guilds, and if the limit is approached again in the future, we will be able to react as soon as needed.
