Sup,

I'm getting this weird problem with the new drivers I've got, namely the 5.22 reference drivers.

When in Windoze the screen goes black and then cuts back to the desktop every now and then (at the time of writing this it's doing it every minute or so)

NE1 else had a problem like this or summin? , it didn't seem to do it in games, just windows.

Maybe its something else - ill investigate later. Until then, anyone else had probs like this?

Oh BTW - can someone gimmie a link or summin on the problem associated with geforces and the lack of power (or summin) to the cards, i.e what causes texture rip in games etc.

TA!

You wanna check this immensely extensive FAQ for geforces:
www.tweak3d.net/faq

should have good info there, often updated every coupla days.

Well, I read a few stories about probs with 5.22's so I was dreading the worst, but they went on flawlessly and ain't caused one lil' prob :)

FPS is up in everything except Q2 where demo1.dm2 and demo2.dm2 have gone down 10fps

Q3 fps in demo001 and similar is up 4 fps... but f00kin ell, this s3tc malarky works wonders in heavy scenes - no more crazy slowdown - tis nice and nippy all the time now. Schw33t! ;)

All of my scores increased, I have a creative GF DDR and the most recent cretive drivers are based on the 5.22 but I really like them because they come with a very nice and useful Blaster Control program.

Oh the texture rip is often caused by a lack of power, you'll need to increase your IO voltage. I currently have mine set at 3.60V instead of the standard 3.50V.

yeah, the problem kinda comes and goes - only happened twice now - always after a heavy playing session, but other than that the drivers are sweet - less damn crashes now.

Oh, BTW - how do ya check ya io voltage and how do ya increase (cos i don't fancy playing and killing my machine ) ;)

Also, anyone who hasn't got sys shock 2 get it now - this games is soooooo cool, and damn scary as well :)

Since you mention the problem comes after heavy playing then it is likely to be caused by over heating.

Well because I have a Abit BE6-II I'm able to check and change my voltage through my BIOS. It changes depending on your mobo.

i just tried Detonator 2 drivers on me geforce 2

few probs such as half me screen on me monitor being used, 60 fps on timerefresh on q2 where i used to get 350.

seems to work ok on Q3 fine tho increases fps a little.

I've gone back to the drivers on me CD aint playing q2 with 60 fps

i had same prob with quake2 :(
only way to solve it is to select video in quake2 and just reapply it with vsync disabled of course ;)
then do a timedemo immediately after and u will be back to normal :)
hope nVidia sorts this, must be summit up with the opengl icd, or summit up with quake2? :Q

rockhard ;)
