Have my computer for about 4 years now still going ok still but i think its time for a new 1 finally! ive looked at overclockers and gone over the bits carefully just want to know what you think and if i can change some to improve it, also if all parts will be compatible ive check it but just want some second opinions.

Thank you!

Just had a quick check and it seems nice good GFX but might need a better Power Supply

- PSU is fine for your build, unless you plan on extreme OC'ing.

Here is a pretty good summary of the state of play when it comes to PSU's.

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=108088

(Note: the new type-R 580 is the same build as the 650W+ variant so consider it to be of the same quality)

Wattage requirements are always massively overstated by most manufacturers, stable voltage rails and max loading on the 12v line are FAR more important.

- As for the rest of your spec, itll do the job for sure but dont expect bleeding edge performance. untill the new AMD range is released the intel conroe is still by far the best choice for any new PC. Far Faster, cooler and better overclocks. The ram is also average at best, the 'top of the line' to the 'mid price' geil ram is great stuff and well recommended but the cheap end isnt so flash. That said it is still better than your generic brands. If you are looking at keeping prices down however you should stick with it.

- The case looks nice.

- I assume you already have a monitor? If you still have the same one as 4 years ago you probably want to be looking at getting a new one. A good 22 widescreen LCD is a close to essential companion for the 8800 GTS, as you really need a high native screen resolution to get the best out of such a fast card.

Overall its a nice enough build. And should run more than fast enough for 99% of games out there.

Thanks alot for the read, yeah like you said about AMD i might wait until the new ones come out or i might go for a Intel not too sure yet, also on the ram im thinking of getting a bit more higher quality stuff like you said dont mind spending 40 pound extra if its gonna improve the perfomance..

The difference in performance between two sticks of identically sized RAM with different timings is minimal at best, and you are highly unlikely to notice it.

What it does give you is more potential to OC and greater stability if you do. If you want everything to run as at factory defaults then geil value ram is good enough.

Read a lot of negative stuff regarding the psu have no experiance with it myself but theres an unhealthy amount of threads over on the overclockers forum regarding this psu and is widely known over there as the sucsesser to the q-tec in terms of going bang.

I have that same PSU it hans been running for 6 months now.
It runs 4 Harddisks 3 CD DVD Drives two 80mm Intake fans and 1 120mm exaust fan and it has never had a problem. I read alot of reviews where people said the modular connections were faulty and broke alot but mine has worked perfectly.

For that budget you should really be looking at a C2D settup, definitely anything but a Hiper-r Psu (they have a very long thread on Overclockers forums about the large numbers of them blowing and taking many things with them)

Incedently is the only reason your upgrading to play warhammer?

If so put the money in the bank and wait till nearer release imo its like 6 months at least away and component prices can and will drop a lot by then also new components will be available etc.
