excitement...I have it!

I love the original, the stories are ones I loved in childhood of all the old myths (Jason and the argonauts, sinbad etc) and the original films were great but now are very dated and although harryhausens(sp?) special effects were awesome and groundbreaking the new techniques can certainly make more of the stories.

man I almost wee'd a bit when I saw that teaser hehe, that will certainly be one I'll be going to the cinema to watch!

These old skeletons are way more scary than anything made recently.

Okay, let me explain myself about Mr.Harryhausen.

The process he uses was ahead of it's time when he first used it in the 1950's and 1960's, but even that was a nod towards the likes of King Kong. By the time he got to Clash of the Titans in 1980, the process was starting to show it's age, especially against the new "upstarts" like the Star Wars franchise, Indiana Jones films and Spielberg's films like Close Encounters of the Third Kind and ET.

Stop-motion can done smoothly (look at "Nightmare Before Christmas) but Ray Harryhausen's animations always looked "rough" to me.

I thought that about the 300ish feel to it! glad it wasn't just me and my spartan fettish lol, have to agree with the lads though I think harryhausen's work was amazing, you have to remember that when it was created it was all done by hand and eye no computers tbh, and I always found the skellies to be really quite menacing (and whats his name in clash of the titans, thingies son that gets turned into a beast because he hunted everything) and don't get me started on medusa, when she got her head lopped off and all that goop came out... well let me say it put me off heinz tinned macaroni for about 17 years tbh.

However, it will be great to see it all with 'realistic' monsters and the acting in the original was a bit dire lol I mean persieus was a bit um... wooden shall we say?

edit, dammit lol ye posted while I was wafflin'!! yeah, agree tbh but can't help finding his stuff charming as it takes me back to me younger days *creaks off to the home*

Hmm just watched this and I am not jumping off the sofa re-enacting sword fights using the TV remote and yelling phrases from the movie (which is my benchmark as to whether or not a film is truely great)...I didn't fall asleep so it wasn't bad and I quite enjoyed the look of the movie but on the whole a bit disappointed it didn't make my blood boil and my soul scream fuck yeah!!

...I did eat too many m&m's though so my tummy is muttering a bit about feeling sick.
