Fair enough, I was just making the point that on that kind of budget, you can buy something away from the norm and that impresses just about everyone.

I've been warned off my choice of new car by a few people who tell me about service costs, tyres, etc, but they always forget depreciation when they recommend modern cars.

VTS is proper a proper nippy hatch, I eyeballed one when I left uni as potential car. However, i wasn't impressed with the poor build quality and the fact the interior was tiny - the pedals were like polomints on cocktail sticks. It's cheap to buy, cheap to run, not so cheap to insure but it's a bundle of laughs.

A supercharged VTS will outsprint a BMW M3.

In that case for the money you'll probably get for the TT you could have one of these

A very similar idea to the TVR you're looking at, but better in every concievable way.

Oh!

I was out looking at cars with my mate (he bought an Audi A3 1.8 turbo) and they had a BMW M Roadster in yellow, 20k-ish miles, looked immaculate.

£12500

I said to the guy "what's the story with the M roadster? kinda cheap isn't it?", he said "it was a cat C write off" ...... "oh right" ...... "no thanks :)". Apparently had been in a bad smash, but the bodywork was fixed up; who knows what hidden things were wrong with it.

F'cking gorgeous though.

Edit: need a motoring forum so bad

Also, what would happen if you fitted a supercharger to a BMW M3? Would the Saxo really stand a chance then?

What if we fitted a supercharger to Bodhi?

I have had a long think and I think I am going to stick with my ickle Nissan for now, its cheap to run and although not the classiest car in the world it’s reliable. When I eventually do buy a new car it certainly won’t be brand new and after looking around I think it will have to be something relatively small but a ickle bit speedy... my sis owns a citroen saxo, I have driven it a few times and quite fancy one of those tbh. Hopefully I will be getting a hefty pay rise in April so if that comes up trumps then I will be looking around again.

What about a soft-top? Might not go fast, but its like a rollercoaster when the lid is off.

never thought about it really but might be worth looking into if thats the case, The only thing that worries me about a soft top is security, i dont know much about them, but surely they are easier to break into?
