New 3dfx drivers ?

Guys has anyone out there with a V5500 tried the new drivers with the hidden surface removal option? I am hearing all sorts of wonderful claims about doubling of frame rates etc See http://www.3dfxgamers.com/boards.asp?BOID=5&THID=96022&boardsort=lastpost&boardpage=1. Now I know this is a 3dfx gamers board, but if you can get past the nvdidia hatred these are still real people who are getting pretty amazing results with this new release.

Now I own a GeForce card, but given the runours about the GF Ultras supposed 7x extra performance being due to some form of HSR or Tile Based Rendering, I was wondering if this might prod Nvidia into releasing a detonator with this feature, kinda like they did with the FSAA thingy.

Seems to be a role reversal almost. Remember before the V5500 was released and 3dfx were pimping the FSAA feature - NVidia casually release a beta driver that provides exactly that feature for their cards as if to say its really no big deal. MAybe in this case, 3dfx know whats coming down the line and are trying to do the same.

hehe, I can just imagine come February the arguments, 3dfx "its nothing major really, we were able to implement this with a driver release", NVIDIA "Yes, but our 2x HSR is the equivalent of our competitors 4x HSR due to our dedicated xyz-buffer and delivers superior image quality". Now that would be ironic.
