I was wondering... I am using Windows XP and I know I can oben "compute management" and see who are using my shared folders and what they are using, but are these informations logged anywere or how can I do that?

doesn't show that degree of data, well not in all cases.

If you're running a service such as IIS and someone fails to authenticate then it will log it - likewise if you password your shares it will log any failed authentications, but for any real degree of granularity in these things you're almost asking for the features of a server OS or top-notch audit tool.

What are you trying to monitor?

Or you could just have "log successful object access" enabled ... :p

Remember to start the audit service though. Or it wont work.

We have a major LAN where I live, with nearly a thousand users, so I just want to know who has been accessing my shared documents and when. Not much really.

For a lan I used to use something called Netwatcher Pro. Dunno if it'll work with xp though cos that was back in win95 days.
